SAN DIEGO: Military Members Make First Ever Gay Pride Appearance In Full Uniform

For the first time since the repeal of DADT, today in San Diego members of the military marched in a gay pride parade in full uniform. Earlier this week the Pentagon, which typically does not allow uniformed personnel to march in civilian events, said that it was making a one-time exception for San Diego Pride.
The loudest cheers from the parade crowd of nearly 200,000 were reserved for them. The U.S. military contingent included about 40 members — some active, some retired. As they assembled in the staging area, countless spectators took pictures of and with them. Most of the active-duty personnel said they were under orders not to give interviews although photos were fine. Sean Sala, 27, who left the Navy last year but helped organize the military group, said the significance of this year’s active-duty uniformed participants is bolstered by government approval for the first time. “I think everybody wants to make it a gay thing, but it’s just an American thing,” he said. “These are people that have laid down their lives for their country, you know, and they deserve recognition for their service regardless of their sexuality.”
It appears that the parade included a proposal!

Sen. Frank Lautenberg To Introduce Ban On High-Capacity Gun Magazines

In the wake of yesterday's mass murder in Colorado, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) plans to reintroduce a federal ban on weapons that allow a high number of shots before reloading.
"If reports are correct and a high-capacity gun magazine was used to commit these awful murders, Senator Lautenberg will absolutely renew his effort to limit the availability of this dangerous firearm attachment," Lautenberg's communications director Caley Gray told The Huffington Post. Lautenberg, one of the most vocal gun control advocates in the Senate, introduced a bill to limit high-capacity magazines following the shooting of former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. The shooter in that instance fired his gun more than 30 times without having to reload. The bill went nowhere.
Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), whose husband was murdered in a 1993 mass shooting on the Long Island Railroad, has introduced several similar bills which failed to get out of its GOP-dominated House committee. Her statement regarding yesterday's news:
“The horrific nightmare of a mass shooting on innocent civilians in a crowded public place has, sadly, come true once again,” the New York Democrat said in a statement. “I mourn alongside the people of Aurora for the many killed and injured and the countless family and friends whose lives, as a result of the consequences of this event, will be negatively affected for decades to come. The shooter should be brought to justice and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But we as a nation should also not continue to ignore avenues to prevent tragedies like this from happening in the future.”

Wingnut Pam Geller Wins Court Battle To Place Anti-Islam Ad On NYC Transit

Infamous anti-Islam blogger Pam Geller has won the court battle to place the above ad on NYC public transit. Apparently Geller believes a lasting peace can be won by calling 700,000 New Yorkers "savages."
The ruling comes from U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. His decision said the MTA’s ban on “demeaning” speech was unconstitutional. The MTA had refused to run an anti-jihad advertisement that, according to the MTA, referred to Israel’s enemies as savages who engaged in jihad. The MTA flagged the advertisement that was set to run on the exterior of its buses, claiming that it violated the MTA’s policy against displaying “images or information that demean an individual or group of individuals on account of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation.” But the court noted that politically controversial speech, even demeaning speech, already had been allowed on the buses, and the MTA was restricting only that speech which “demeaned specific groups or individuals that fit within the MTA’s protected classes.” The ruling came as a result of a lawsuit filed by the AFLC on behalf of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer.
Also defending Geller was the anti-gay Thomas More Center, which earlier this month won the right to defend Cook County, Illinois against two pending marriage equality suits. In January 2011 the Southern Poverty Law Center named Geller and her group to its list of religion-based hate groups. Last summer Norway's mass murderer of 77 people was revealed to be a reader and participant in Geller's blog. He also cited Geller's "work" in his deranged manifesto.

Editorial Of The Day

In the hard-left and hard-right world of this city's newspapers, the New York Daily News is relatively moderate. Which makes today's editorial a bit surprising, although certainly welcome.
Blood on hands of Obama, Mitt and NRA!

Obama postures as supporting a new assault weapons ban but has done exactly nothing to restore the prohibition. Nor has he moved to close the loophole that allows for gun purchases without background checks at weapons shows. His statement about the Aurora massacre was a dodge. Obama said in part: “If there’s anything to take away from this tragedy, it’s the reminder that life is very fragile, our time here is limited and it is precious, and what matters at the end of the day is not the small things, it’s not the trivial things which so often consume us and our daily lives.”
With all due respect, the presidential takeaway should have been a drive for strengthened gun control, if only for the assault weapons ban.

In righteous anger, Obama should have confronted the NRA’s political might regardless of polls that show a strong sentiment against restoring the prohibition. So, too, Romney, who was no less saccharine than Obama in discussing Aurora and is no less craven on gun control. As governor of Massachusetts, he signed a state assault weapons ban and defended tough anti-gun statutes. Then, as a presidential candidate, he joined the NRA and has since professed fealty to the group’s positions. Through their inaction and their silence, Obama and Romney have fallen into line with all those who enabled Holmes to take hold of that AR-15 and will enable others to do so in the future unless America’s political leaders develop the courage to fight to save lives.

Colorado's Batman Shooting Happened Because God Is Angry About The Gays

"The AFA Journal has been dealing with denominations that no longer believe in the God of the Bible, they no longer believe that Jesus is the only way of salvation, they teach that God is OK with homosexuality, this is just increasing more and more. It is mankind shaking its fist at the authority of God. We are seeing his judgment. You know, some people talk about ‘God’s judgment must be just around the corner,’ we are seeing it." - Fred Jackson, news director for the American Family Association.

Colorado's Batman Shooting Happened Because God Is Angry About Abortion

"In our perverse society, a woman exercising her 'right to choose' death for her innocent child represents 'courage,' while the Batman shooter’s 'choice' to kill innocent moviegoers represents cowardice. And it is. They are both acts of cowardice. The only relevant difference is the victims’ age. Let me be clear: Am I comparing this incredibly wicked, illegal mass murder at Aurora’s Century Theatre to the incredibly wicked, legal mass murder committed at Planned Parenthoods across the country each day? Absolutely – and you can quote me on it.

"But again, like the Batman murders, our nation’s 55-plus million abortion murders post Roe v. Wade are not the cause of our culture of death; they are merely a symptom. Ultimately, the cause stems from something much less complicated. We as a nation – as a people – have turned our backs on God. We have rebelled against Him and have forgotten that it was He and He alone who gave us 200-plus years of prosperity, unprecedented in world history. We have left Him, so why are we surprised He’s leaving us? We have said, 'We don’t need you, leave us alone.' And so He has." - Hate group leader Matt Barber, writing for World Net Daily. AFA Goes After Office Depot

The American Family Association is ever so pissed at Office Deport for partnering with Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation.
Office Depot is guaranteeing $1 million to help indoctrinate your children that they are born "gay." This week, Office Depot announced it is teaming up with recording artist Lady Gaga to push the homosexual agenda in public schools by encouraging our children to believe "gay" people are "Born This Way." To help spread the message, Office Depot and Gaga's Born This Way Foundation have created several special, limited-edition products for back-to-school this year.

Office Depot is donating 25% of the sale of each item back to the promotion of homosexuality, with a guaranteed payout of $1 million. The truth is, there is zero credible evidence that people are born "gay." Homosexuality is a poor and dangerous choice, and has been proven to lead to a litany of health hazards to not only the individuals but also society as a whole. Office Depot is attempting to attract children to it by the deceiving title "Empowering Youth". That is horribly irresponsible and will ultimately lead children to a higher chance of becoming victims to alcohol and drug abuse, depression and even suicide
The AFA has created the usual "stop or we'll boycott you!" sample letter for its members to send to Office Depot. YOU can write to express your appreciation for their support of LGBT kids by sending a note to their chief marketing office: Robert.Moore@OfficeDepot.com

Enter The Conspiracy Nuts

That didn't take long.
This has all the signs of Fast & Furious, Episode II. I wouldn't be surprised to discover someone in Washington was behind it all. After all, there's no quicker way to disarm a nation and take total control over the population than to stage violence, blame it on firearms, then call for leaders to "do something!" Such calls inevitably end up resulting in gun confiscation, and it's never too long after that before government genocide really kicks in like we saw with Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao and other tyrants.
And Obama killed Andrew Breitbart.

Out Singer Frank Ocean Tops R&B Chart

Newly out R&B star Frank Ocean debuted at the pinnacle of Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart this week. (I'm fairly sure this is the first time that an already out artist has achieved this.) In fact, Billboard's chart-watch column notes that Ocean's first week sales are more than three times what had been forecast before he came out. Ocean also debuted at #2 on the Top 200 Pop Albums chart.

Tea Party Head Judson Phillips: Obama Should Prove He's Not A Gay Crackhead

"Obama by his own admission was a very heavy marijuana user in his youth. He has also admitted to using cocaine, though he denies using drugs such as heroin. He also says he was a significant drinker. Why is this important? Because these are all symptoms of addiction. A man named Larry Sinclair claims that in 1999 he and Barack Obama had sex and then smoked crack cocaine. This is 1999, nine years before Obama would run for President. Crack cocaine is very addictive. It is very destructive. Addiction specialist will tell you that a crack addiction is very tough to break. Is Obama an addict? Was he an addict in the past?" - Tea Party Nation head Judson Phillips, who says the president should prove he isn't a gay crackhead before making tax return demands on Mitt Romney.

SF Considers Outdoor Smoking Ban

For cigarettes. Medical marijuana would be excluded.
Smoking anything other than medically-prescribed marijuana at San Francisco street fairs, festivals and other outdoor events held on city property would be banned under new legislation before the Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Eric Mar said he introduced the proposal because of the health impacts of secondhand smoke when people light up in public. “It’s widely known that secondhand smoke is responsible for as many as 73,000 deaths among non-smokers each year in the United States, and there is no safe level of exposure,” he said.
NYC already bans smoking in virtually all public spaces.

Paul Krugman On Romney's Taxes

"Because the rich are different from you and me, many of them are incredibly self-centered. They don’t even see how funny it is — how ridiculous they look — when they attribute the weakness of a $15 trillion economy to their own hurt feelings. After all, who’s going to tell them? They’re safely ensconced in a bubble of deference and flattery. Unless, that is, they run for public office.

"Like everyone else following the news, I’ve been awe-struck by the way questions about Mr. Romney’s career at Bain Capital, the private-equity firm he founded, and his refusal to release tax returns have so obviously caught the Romney campaign off guard. Shouldn’t a very wealthy man running for president — and running specifically on the premise that his business success makes him qualified for office — have expected the nature of that success to become an issue? Shouldn’t it have been obvious that refusing to release tax returns from before 2010 would raise all kinds of suspicions?" - Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman, writing for the New York Times.

SAN DIEGO: Activists Issue Pride Parade Call To "Turn Your Back" On Homocon Mayoral Candidate Carl DeMaio

San Diego activists have launched a Facebook group calling on locals to "turn your back" on homocon mayoral candidate Carl DeMaio during this weekend's gay pride parade.
Carl DeMaio has turned his back on the LGBT community, accepting plenty of Yes on 8 money and making promises to "…not push the gay agenda issues…" in exchange for campaign aid from Anti-Gay special interests. We need to send DeMaio a clear message that WE WILL NOT BE SOLD OUT! We won't support anyone that is funded by H8! Let's turn OUR backs on HIM!
In April San Diego's City Beat published a lengthy evisceration of DeMaio, who is backed by the some of largest donors to Proposition 8. DeMaio, a wealthy political consultant, is vehemently anti-union and has vowed that LGBT rights will never affect his political decisions. His candidacy is being bolstered by the San Diego Gay & Lesbian News, whose publisher is DeMaio's partner.

UPDATE: The San Diego Free Press reports that DeMaio's partner will not be walking in the gay pride parade. Activists allege that DeMaio has avoided being photographed with his partner because he doesn't want to alienate his anti-gay backers.

Wingnut GOP Rep Blames CO Shooting On Attacks On Religious Freedom

"You know what really gets me, as a Christian, is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of a derelict takes place. People say where was God in all of this? We've threatened high school graduation participations, if they use God's name, they're going to be jailed. I mean that kind of stuff. Where was God? What have we done with God? We don't want him around. I kind of like his protective hand being present." - GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert, who says that if a member of the audience had been armed, the massacre could be been lessened. Colorado law allows people to carry concealed firearms.

RELATED: Last year Gohmert introduced a bill to allow members of Congress to carry firearms onto the floor of the U.S. House. Gohmert has previously claimed that "demonic forces" are behind Obama's health care reform plan. He's also compared Obama to Hitler and claimed that terrorists are having babies in the the United States so that their kids can grow up to become suicide bombers.

Alan Chambers: Perverted Homosexual Leaders Are Like Hitler And Marx

IMPORTANT UPDATE: It appears the below quote was first published by the Christianist Charisma Magazine in 2004. Ex-Gay Watch speculates as to why the story is now appearing on the magazine's front page with today's date: "Is someone at the conservative Christian publication trying to sabotage him [Chambers] by bringing up his past words?" As always, infighting is funny. And also, in this case, fascinating.

"Pro-homosexual leaders realized the same truth employed by Hitler and Marx: To advance their agenda they must radically influence the hearts and minds of young people. Because Mom and Dad are working all day and Susie and Junior are in school and then home alone, activists came up with a plan: Use public schools, television, the Internet and other youth-friendly venues to influence the way young people view homosexuality. Under the guise of AIDS education, groups such as the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network gained access into public schools.

"Similarly, pro-homosexual activists ran for school board positions and partnered with every kid's favorite after-school babysitter, MTV. Teenagers got hooked on the Internet, which opened them up to a 24-hour source of temptation and perversion. Now, perhaps too late, we are waking up from a three-decade sleep to realize that the gay lobby has taken America hostage. I hope we are not so naive that we think their agenda stops with legalizing same-sex marriages. Ultimately, if this process is not stopped, the gaying of the United States will begin to affect religious freedom." - Alan Chambers, head of Exodus International, desperately trying to win back the hate groups who have slagged him since his confession that nobody is ever "cured" of being gay. ITALY: Soccer Star Fined €15,000 For Hoping There Are "No Gays" On Team

Italian soccer star Antonio Cassano has been fined €15,000 after telling the press that he hoped that there were no gay players on his championship team. Cassano is known for stripping to his underwear after a win. Pink News reports:
UEFA said today: “Following the opening of disciplinary proceedings against Italy’s Antonio Cassano for a discriminatory press statement (Art. 11bis of the Disciplinary Regulations) during UEFA EURO 2012, the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has decided to impose a fine of €15,000 on the player. “An appeal can be lodged against this decision within three days of the dispatch of the full written decision.” Cassano had issued a statement shortly after the original comments saying he did not pass judgement on others. He said: “I sincerely regret that my statements have sparked controversy and protest from gay rights groups. “Homophobia is a sentiment that is not mine. I did not want to offend anyone and I can not question the sexual freedom of other people."

Former Exodus Head To Divorce Wife

Back in April I reported that former Exodus International chairman John Paulk had made some interesting changes to his Facebook profile. Yesterday Truth Wins Out took the story further:
“Ex-gay” poster couple John and Anne Paulk may be Splitsville. Sources tell Truth Wins Out today that John has moved out of the couple’s Portland, Oregon home. Other sources in Portland have informed Truth Wins Out that Paulk was dating a man, although the current status of that relationship remains murky, and that Paulk has frequented homosexual establishments in the city. Speculation on the status of their relationship was heightened today after TWO spotted a cryptic status message posted by John Paulk on his business’s Facebook page:
“After a lifetime of heartache, July 19, 1992 [the date he married Anne] was the happiest day of my life. I will never forget it… It is emblazoned in my memory. And although a lot has occurred since that day long ago and I am on a hard journey right now, i want this woman to know how much she has always meant to me and that no matter where things pan out… I always will love you.”
You may recall that years ago TWO founder Wayne Besen photographed Paulk fleeing a DC gay bar where he'd been chatting up patrons. Paulk later claimed that he'd only been in the bar to use the bathroom. (And buy a couple rounds for the hotties.) Besen notes that Paulk spoke at an Exodus event as recently as two years ago. Besen is calling for Paulk to apologize to the LGBT community.

At this writing the apartment building across my back alley is in flames. I tried to go out onto my fire escape to take more photos and a fireman yelled at me to get back inside. All the buildings on that side of the block are being evacuated but we've been told to "sit tight" for now.

Colorado Shooting Suspect Identified

ABC News reports:
The young man who is in custody after allegedly gunning down 12 people in a mass shooting spree overnight in Aurora, Colorado has been identified as local resident James Holmes, according to federal authorities. Law enforcement officials and witnesses told ABC News Holmes wore what appeared to be a bullet-proof vest and riot-type mask as he opened fire in a movie theater with three weapons at a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises." In addition to the 12 deaths, at least 50 people were injured, according to police. Local news reports showed aerial video of police cautiously searching Holmes' apartment, some five miles from the Century Aurora 16 theater, as the suspect reportedly told police he had explosives inside.
CNN is reporting that Holmes, 24, was carrying a shotgun, an AK type weapon, and two handguns. Holmes reportedly has no local criminal record, or at least none has yet been revealed. Authorities says they do not yet suspect a terrorism angle to the shooting. The FBI has over 100 agents on the scene at this writing.

Massacre At Colorado Theater

Early this morning 14 12 people were killed and at least 60 were injured after a gunman opened fire at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado.
The heavily armed suspect, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was apprehended by police in a rear parking lot of the theater, Frank Fania, a police spokesman, told CNN. The suspect was not immediately identified, though Fania said he was believed to be in his early 20s. "He did not resist. He did not put up a fight," Fania said. Police seized a rifle and a handgun from the suspect, and another gun was found in the theater, he said. Oates said there was no evidence of a second gunman. Chaos broke out during the showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at the Century Aurora 16 theater when the shooting began, police and witnesses said.

"We saw people running around and screaming," a man, who was not identified, told CNN affiliate KUSA. He said there was confusion in the theater when the shooting began because many believed the sound of gunfire was coming from the movie. Oates said that the suspect used some sort of "smoke device" before opening fire in the theater. Witnesses told KUSA that the gunman kicked in an emergency exit door and threw a smoke bomb into the darkened theater before opening fire. One movie-goer, who was not identified, told KUSA the gunman was wearing a gas mask when he released a smoke bomb and then began moving through the theater, randomly shooting at people.
I'll update this post as details emerge.

UPDATE: President Obama has issued a statement.
"Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my Administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time. We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded. As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family. All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends, and neighbors, and we must stand together with them in the challenging hours and days to come."

No Porn For #YouPeople

Wingnut site Daily Caller reports that the Romney campaign has "quietly promised a vigorous crackdown on porn" should he be elected.
Former Justice Department official Patrick Trueman, who proudly participated in federal pornography prosecutions during their “heyday” in the late 1980s and early 1990s, told The Daily Caller that Mitt Romney’s campaign assured him that Romney would “vigorously” prosecute pornographers if elected president. Trueman, the president of Morality in Media, contacted the Romney campaign earlier this year about the “untreated pandemic” of Internet pornography. “They got back to us right away,” he said. Bob Flores, another former Justice Department official who prosecuted pornographers, accompanied Trueman to an hour-long meeting with Romney foreign and legal policy director Alex Wong, Trueman said. “Wong assured us that Romney is very concerned with this, and that if he’s elected these laws will be enforced,” Trueman told TheDC. ”They promised to vigorously enforce federal adult obscenity laws.”
The Daily Caller's source claims that most US-based porn sites "could be easily taken down" under a Romney administration, but that foreign sites are pretty much untouchable.

Obama To End ADAP Waiting Lists

Fantastic news even if its release is shrewdly timed to arrive a few days before the International AIDS Conference. Via White House press release:
Today, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced nearly $80 million in grants to increase access to HIV/AIDS care across the United States. The funding will ensure that low-income people living with HIV/AIDS continue to have access to life-saving health care and medications. “The entire Administration is dedicated to fulfilling President Obama’s goal of an AIDS free generation and today’s announcement is one more step in that ongoing effort,” Secretary Sebelius said. “These grants will help make a real difference in the lives of Americans living with HIV/AIDS, especially those in underserved communities.”

Approximately $69 million will be sent to 25 states and territories through the Ryan White AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), and based on estimates provided by the states, will eliminate any waiting lists. The more than $10 million remaining will be distributed to Ryan White community-based health clinics nationwide to expand access to 14,000 new patients for essential medical and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS. A portion of this funding was made available through the Affordable Care Act.

I do ask them (if they wish to do this; some clients do not, and I never expect my clients to do anything they do not wish to do) to bring up a compelling image from gay porn that they wish to reduce the power of, and we work on diminishing its power (a technique with which we have had considerable success).

"However, I do not use straight porn; I use pictures of women they find attractive in mainstream magazines and we work on developing a physical attraction to them, through their imagination, while looking at these non-pornographic pictures. I would like you to set the record straight on this. You have been publicly denigrating reparative therapy and misleading people about its nature." - NARTH co-founder Joseph Nicolosi, responding to a Facebook post by Exodus International head Alan Chambers. NY Senate: Gay Vs Gay-Friendly

Two Democrats are running to fill the seat of openly gay NY Sen. Tom Duane, who is retiring after a distinguished career highlighted by last year's passage of marriage equality. One of those running for Duane's West Village seat is Brad Hoylman (above right), who is openly gay, engaged and the father of a 18-month old. His opponent, Tom Greco, is straight and married, but owns one of Hell's Kitchen's most popular gay bars, the Ritz. Capital New York looks at the Democratic machine aligned behind Hoylman:
Democratic State Senate candidate Brad Hoylman has locked up the support of nearly the entire Democratic establishment in his bid to succeed Tom Duane, and his opponent is trying to use that against him. "We don't just line up behind the guy whose turn in line it is," said Michael Oliva, a consultant to Hoylman's Democratic opponent, Tom Greco, a bar owner. "That kind of closed-mindedness and strict adherence to authority is for the Republicans." Oliva argues that, in contrast to Hoylman, a former general counsel to the pro-business Partnership for New York City, Greco is the true liberal in the tradition of the famously progressive district. [snip] "Many of the voters in this district struggled for civil rights in the 50s, 60s and 70s, demonstrated against wars and violence and sexual intolerance, and stood up to all manner of human injustice," he said. "They elected Bella Abzug. We want to spark that sense of rebelliousness which still burns deep within them."
I think we can categorize these "I'm more liberal than the other guy" battles as a rare embarrassment of riches.

Scissor Sisters: Kiki Remixes

As an album cut from the latest Scissor Sisters release is blowing up huge in the clubs, Universal has rushed out five remixes of Let's Have A Kiki. Below is the Danny Verde Remix, which is very much in the style we once called "the big room mix." Other mixes here.

Eugene, Since You're A Joe BY God Reader, How About That Matt Drudge Post?

We'll give ole knuckle-dragging Eugene a pass on getting this blog's name wrong, but what's more hilarious is his complaint about my "many frequent repostings of the same articles on Public Advocate." As we've seen here many, many times, hate groups just quiver with impotent rage from my incessant homofascist habit of reprinting verbatim exactly what they said. Hey Eugene, how you feelin' about your hero Matt "Closet Case" Drudge today? SNORK! (Tipped by JMG reader Dennis)

Fischer: Big Gay Is Coming For Chick-Fil-A

"There is plenty of hate in the debate over same-sex marriage, but it’s not coming from the pro-family community, for the simple reason that disagreement is not hatred. But there is a volcanic level of vitriol and venom that spews like magma from the darkened hearts of homosexual activists. Chick-fil-A is about to find out what it is like to be Pompeii. They’re gonna need to wear their big-boy pants for a long time, because the hatemongers in the homosexual movement will now set out to wipe them off the face of the earth.

"They are about to go all Ahmadinejad on the Chick-fil-A Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich. Gay activists are not interested in debate. They have a singular goal: to punish, silence, neutralize, marginalize and destroy anyone who defends the institution of natural marriage against deviant counterfeits. Hell hath no fury like a woman-who-thinks-she’s-a-man scorned." - AFA radio host Bryan Fischer, in today's blog post.

2012 Emmy Nominations Announced

Openly gay actors Jim Parsons and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are among those nominated for 2012 Emmys. The Los Angeles times recaps the biggest nods:
Many of the nominees have been perennial favorites in recent years, such as “Mad Men,” “30 Rock” and “Modern Family,” as well as Jon Hamm, Tina Fey, Michael C. Hall and Jim Parsons. But there were also some newcomers in the mix, including Showtime’s freshman drama series “Homeland” and its stars, Damian Lewis and Claire Danes. AMC’s period drama “Mad Men” was one of the big winners of the morning, earning 17 nominations including nods for best drama, best actor for Jon Hamm and best actress for Elisabeth Moss. “Downton Abbey” had 16 nominations and is another contender for best drama. The impressive showing for the historical British drama indicates that it got a boost from the strategic decision to move it from the miniseries category -- which it won last year -- to the dramatic series category.
Ferguson faces all the male actors in Modern Family. True Blood was completely snubbed. Dammit, I was rooting for Pam.
