One Million Moms Vs ABC Family

Just in via email:
ABC Family Channel's lineup already includes several anti-family programs, and that list continues to grow. The newest docu-series "Becoming Us" began airing Monday, June 8, at 9:00 pm ET/8:00 pm CT. The previews airing earlier include the tagline "genders may bend, but family never breaks." This reality show is about a son's journey as he struggles with his parents' divorce and his father's transition to living as a woman. The boy's girlfriend also happens to have a father who is transgender and transforming into a woman. The show is attempting to normalize the transgender lifestyle and make it appear OK while targeting the young audience watching a supposedly family channel. The first episode included the teens going bra shopping with their Dads, a discussion about gender reassignment surgery, and foul language. Take Action: Please use the information we have provided to contact David's Bridal Inc. and ask that they pull their financial support from "Becoming Us."

One Million Moms Vs ABC Family

Just in via email:
Obviously, ABC Family Channel is attempting to desensitize America's youth. They haven't let up, so neither will 1MM.  ABC Family has approved the series "Becoming Us" about two teenagers that begin dating and who both have fathers who are transgender and transforming into women. Many families have already discovered that ABC Family is anything but family-friendly. But because "family" is part of the network's name, we thought a warning should still be sent out for anyone who continues to watch the channel. Previews have already begun airing, and the show will premiere this summer.

Take Action: Please use the information we have provided to contact ABC Family Channel concerning "Becoming Us" and strongly encourage ABC Family to drop all plans to air this program. Let ABC Family know you and your family will not be watching "Becoming Us" or anything else on the network in order to avoid seeing the previews for this new show. Let them also know you are prepared to join thousands of other voices in urging advertisers to place it on their "do not advertise" list.

Producers Of The Fosters Defend Kiss Between Show's 13 Year-old Characters

Via TheWrap:
“If people want to judge it I think maybe they should watch and see how carefully, delicately and chastely it was handled,” co-creator Peter Paige tells TheWrap. ABC Family’s “The Fosters” drew both praise and criticism this week for a daring gay kiss scene between two 13-year-old male characters. But, the show’s creators said they were merely staying true to their story. “If people want to judge it, I think maybe they should watch and see how carefully, delicately and chastely it was handled. We are not here to sensationalize or exploit anyone,” Peter Paige, the drama’s co-creator, told TheWrap. The kiss between Jude (Hayden Byerly) and Connor (Gavin MacIntosh), conceived of in the early days of Season 1 had been a long time coming. But the executives said that ABC Family, while tremendously supportive of the idea, had asked them to slow down the relationship and shelf the kiss for Season 2. Ultimately, both creators felt the network’s note was a smart one. “I’m glad we took more time to invest in the friendship of these two guys,” co-creator Bradley Bredeweg said. “It allowed for this moment to feel as earned as possible.”
Anti-gay groups have been relatively quiet (so far) about the kiss, but outrage is flowing on sites like Free Republic. And anti-gay activist Michael Brown has vented on Townhall, calling the kiss "heartbreaking." The Fosters is executive  produced by Jennifer Lopez.

ABC Family OK's Trans Reality Show

Via the Hollywood Reporter:
ABC Family is continuing its push into the unscripted arena with a big swing. The Disney-owned cable network has handed out a straight-to-series pickup for My Transparent Life, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The docuseries, from Ryan Seacrest Productions, centers on a teen named Ben who learns his parents are not only getting a divorce, but also that his father is becoming a woman. The series will intimately follow Ben, his family and friends as they support each other through the unexpected journey and watch Charlie slowly become Carly, as she experiences the many stages of her transition from male to female. The show is described as a generational story of a loving family and circle of friends, supporting each other through the unfamiliar and unexpected situation.
ABC Family is already one of the main targets of One Million Moms.
