Camille Paglia: The Crafty Clinton Machine Sent Trump To Destroy The GOP

"What's with the carpet-bombing Don Rickles routine? Does Trump have any facial expression beyond knotted, squinting scowl? It's a strain even to look at him. The entire debate begins with Trump getting booed for refusing to rule out a third-party bid. He has a slashing, entertaining wit, but his braggart narcissism is on painful display. He speaks in simplistic polarities of 'winners' versus 'losers,' as if geopolitics were a jangling Atlantic City casino. He sets high goals but lacks real answers to any government issue. Trump is a Trojan Horse sent by the crafty Clinton machine. He has a bellyful of swords aimed at GOP hearts." - Camille Paglia, writing for the Hollywood Reporter.

FBI Investigates Hillary's Email Server

NBC News reports:
The FBI is looking into the security of the private email server that Hillary Rodham Clinton used when she was secretary of state. The Washington Post also reported Tuesday that the FBI has asked Clinton lawyer David Kendall about the security of a thumb drive, containing copies of Clinton's emails, that Kendall possesses. The Post report cited two anonymous government officials, but said Kendall confirmed that the government was investigating the security of the devices. NBC News confirmed that the FBI is looking into the procedures used in the private Clinton server. The investigation involves a system, as opposed to a person. Clinton's emails have been under scrutiny since it was revealed she used a private server in her Chappaqua, New York, home while she was the top U.S. diplomat. Government and congressional investigators have been trying to determine whether she sent or received classified information on unsecured email.

Hillary Launches First Campaign Ads

The Clinton campaign has launched its first campaign ads.
The first two television ads of Hillary Clinton's campaign showcase her mother's strength and resilience and are a clear attempt to soften the candidate's image in the wake of a raft of troubling poll numbers. The two 60-second commercials, which begin running Tuesday in Iowa and New Hampshire, recount the story of Clinton's mother's difficult beginnings and how she overcame them to provide for her own family. "I think about all the Dorothys, all over America, who fight for their families, who never give up," Clinton says in one of the spots, named "Dorothy" after her mother. A second ad, titled "Family Strong," delves into Clinton's early biography, noting that "after law school, she could have gone to a big firm, but instead went to work for the Children's Defense Fund." The ads are filled with images of young children and mothers, and looking directly at the camera, Clinton says her mother's personal story is the reason "standing up for kids and families became such a big part of my life."

Barney Frank: Ditch Bernie Sanders

"Decades ago, Sanders made a principled choice to play a valuable part in our politics — the outsider within the system. He defied the uniquely American aversion to the word 'socialism.' We are, after all, the only Western democracy in which no self-identified socialist party has ever played a significant governmental role. While voting with the Democrats to organize first the House and then the Senate, he made clear he did so as a regrettable necessity, not a preference, and cited his nonmembership in the party as an indication of his political integrity. Substantively, he has consistently, forcefully and cogently made the case for a larger federal government role in improving both the fairness and the quality of life in our country, refusing to soft-pedal in the face of declining support for this view in public opinion. His very unwillingness to be confined by existing voter attitudes, as part of a long-term strategy to change them, is both a very valuable contribution to the democratic dialogue and an obvious bar to winning support from the majority of these very voters in the near term." - Barney Frank, in a lengthy Politico piece titled Why Progressives Shouldn't Support Bernie Sanders.

POLL: Hillary Slips In Key Swing States

The Hill reports:
Hillary Clinton trails three top Republican presidential candidates in matchups in three key swing states -- Iowa, Colorado and Virginia -- a new Quinnipiac poll finds. The Democratic presidential frontrunner is slipping in favorability ratings, as well as while facing former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.). The GOP candidates lead Clinton outright in six of those matchups, while Clinton is still behind in the other three but within the margin of error. In Iowa, Rubio and Walker both hold an 8-percentage point lead over Clinton, while Bush would defeat her in the hypothetical matchup by 6 points. In Colorado, Walker holds the largest lead over Clinton—9 percentage points. Rubio follows shortly behind with an 8-point margin, while Bush leads by 5 percentage points.
Unsurprisingly, Trump got the worst favorability score.

TONIGHT: Hillary Clinton Speaks To CNN

CNN reports:
Hillary Clinton on Tuesday will give the first nationally televised interview of her presidential campaign to CNN senior political correspondent Brianna Keilar. The Democratic front-runner has largely stayed away from the press, only occasionally taking questions from reporters and granting interviews to local news outlets in early-voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire. But she hasn't granted national outlets interviews since jumping into the 2016 race in April. The first one, with Keilar, will take place in Iowa City, as Clinton campaigns in the first state to vote in the presidential nominating process. Clinton's status as her party's favorite isn't in doubt, but Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has narrowed the gap in recent polls, particularly in New Hampshire and Iowa.
Wingnuts sites are screaming "conflict of interest" because Keilar recently attended the wedding of a Clinton aide.

NEW HAMPSHIRE: Clinton And Bernie Sanders Effectively Tied In New CNN Poll

Via the New York Times:
The next time Hillary Rodham Clinton visits New Hampshire, she need not look over her shoulder to find Bernie Sanders; the Vermont Senator is running right alongside her in a statistical dead heat for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, according to a CNN/WMUR poll released on Thursday. The poll shows Mrs. Clinton drawing 43 percent of likely Democratic primary voters compared to 35 percent for Mr. Sanders, but with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus five percentage points, the race is a statistical tie. While Mrs. Clinton has been enormously popular in New Hampshire, her favorable ratings have dropped almost 20 points since February, while Mr. Sanders’s have been climbing. And his negatives are lower than hers. So their net favorability ratings (favorable minus unfavorable) are now equal, at 55 percent. The poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire, interviewed 1,010 voters from June 18 to 24. The margin of sampling error for the entire poll was plus or minus three percentage points, but for the 360 likely Democratic primary voters who were interviewed, it was plus or minus five percentage points.

Wingnuts Cry "Staged!" After Gay Couple Kisses When Clinton Mentions Marriage

The Tea Things over at Twitchy are very upset that two men could be seen kissing as Hillary Clinton mentioned marriage equality during her speech at Roosevelt Island today. It took me about an hour of sorting through the various live feeds to find the right camera angle and take a screenshot, but as you can see the couple was standing in just the right spot.
