Prop 8: The Play
From last night:
Featuring an all-star cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Martin Sheen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jane Lynch, Kevin Bacon and others, "8" is a play written by Academy Award winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and directed by acclaimed actor and director Rob Reiner. It is a powerful account of the case filed by the American Federation for Equal Rights (AFER ) in the U.S. District Court in 2010 to overturn Proposition 8 [LINK], a constitutional amendment that eliminated the rights of same-sex couples to marry in the state of California. Framed around the trial's historic closing arguments in June 2010, 8 provides an intimate look what unfolded when the issue of same-sex marriage was on trial.I haven't watched yet, but Twitter was enthralled.

HomoQuotable - Jane Lynch
"If anything, I think people respect me for not hiding. But what it comes down to is we’re all just people. At the end of the day, I happen to go home to a woman. In Hollywood, all that matters is do you do your job and do it well. Everybody’s going to have their own story, and we have to leave it up to them to decide how and when they’re going to come out. I would never give anybody advice that way. It’s so personal." - Jane Lynch, speaking to The Advocate.Labels: GLEE, HomoQuotable, Jane Lynch

HomoQuotable - Jane Lynch
"I don’t know when or if that will ever happen. I think because since most of the world is straight — and maybe we'll get to a place where this will happen — most of the world is straight and we want the audience to project their hopes and dreams for love and romance onto those actors. And if it’s not in some way possible, maybe never probably, in their mind that it could never happen, then they're not going to do it. You know, most people are straight, and I think that’s probably why."- Glee star Jane Lynch, telling After Elton why she thinks openly gay actors are rarely cast in leading roles.Labels: After Elton, gay artists, HomoQuotable, Jane Lynch

Carol Burnett Cast For Glee
Carol Burnett has been cast to play Sue Sylvester's Nazi-hunting mother in an upcoming episode of Glee. Via Ester Goldberg: Sue referenced her adventurous parents in an episode of the Fox phenom last season. Details of Mama Sylvester’s arrival are being kept under wraps, but I’m told Sue’s father will not be accompanying her. The six-time Emmy-winning Burnett has made only a handful of TV appearances in recent years, most notably playing Bree’s evil stepmother on Desperate Housewives in 2006 and a Rockette-turned-strip-club owner on Law & Order: SVU (for which she was nominated for an Emmy) in 2009.Two Glee posts in one day? Oh, dear.

HomoQuotable - Jane Lynch
"I didn’t want to be gay. I wanted to be… I wanted an easy life. And you know what? I am gay and I still have an easy life. I’ve had days here and there where I would get discouraged because I wasn’t a big star, but I’ve made a living ever since I was 27. Not a great living, but enough for me. I think actually being able to pay my rent and eat and perform is enough, and I did that for many years. Then I had some good years in there too, where I made pretty good money. But I’m at a different point in my career now – I can kind of sit back and let things come to me, whereas when I was younger I had to be a lot more aggressive." - Glee star Jane Lynch, who says she didn't come out to her family until she was 31.Labels: coming out, GLEE, Jane Lynch, lesbians, television
