ILLNOIS: Hate Group Compares Dan Savage To The Holocaust And Abortion

The Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified hate group and the former home of Peter LaBarbera, is responding to supporters who are angry that they posted an old "loathsome video" of Dan Savage. From IFI head Laurie Higgins:

Why view photos from Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen? Why view photos of lynchings? Why view photos of aborted babies? Why view the photo of the young napalmed Vietnamese girl? Why view photos of animals caught in steel leg traps or baby seals bludgeoned to death? Aren't these images shocking and obscene? I am not equating the enormity of the evil of the Holocaust and the American genocide of pre-born babies to that of the homosexuality-affirming movement. I am, rather, illuminating the necessity of occasionally viewing the evil in our midst about which humans have a remarkable capacity to delude themselves. As Christians, however, we should remain conscious of the fact that a life of unrepentant homoerotic activity will result in eternal separation from God. How do we measure the magnitude of temporal suffering relative to that of eternal suffering?

Anti-Gay Sites Denounce Porno Pete's Entry Woes With Canadian Border Police

Peter LaBarbera's claim of being denied entry by Canadian border authorities is rocketing around anti-gay and Christian sites. The story is also being headlined on numerous Canadian news outlets. Raw Story in on it too. Christianist Bullies Attack Rolling Stone

The Christianists who want it to be legal for their children to assault and harass LGBT kids have now focused their ire on Rolling Stone, who last week published a lengthy expose of a Minnesota school system.

According to Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute, teachers should not be allowed to intervene when gay children are being beaten:

Teachers are employees of the government. In that role, they have no right to affirm controversial moral beliefs, even if they believe that doing so will reduce the incidence of bullying. There are ways to curb bullying without affirming controversial, non-factual moral (or political assumptions). Schools must ensure that teachers not exploit their government-subsidized employment to engage in moral or political philosophizing. To prevent the kind of ideological propagandizing in which homosexual activists and their allies seek to engage in the classroom, policy must explicitly prohibit teachers from expressing their personal views on controversial issues.

ILLINOIS: Hate Group Unhappy With Cardinal George's Apology To Gays

Over the weekend Cardinal Francis George issued a formal apology for comparing gay activists to the KKK. And that makes Laurie Higgins at the Illinois Family Institute very unhappy.

What I wish Cardinal George had said was that homosexual acts are soul-destroying acts that are "detestable" in God's eyes and that the parade is a tragic, offensive event that shouldn't take place on any day in any neighborhood. It is not an act of love to affirm or appear to affirm that which God condemns. Cardinal George should not use the terms "gay" and "lesbian." Those terms do not merely denote same-sex attraction and volitional acts. They connote biological determinism, immutability, and an inherent morality. What other groups would Cardinal George choose to identify by their disordered inclinations and freely chosen sinful acts? Rhetoric matters.

Illinois Haters: What About The Adoption Rights Of All Those Incestuous Couples?

The Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified hate group and the former home of Peter LaBarbera, has issued an alert that "radical homosexual activists" are planning to destroy all of Illinois' religious institutions now that civil unions have become law. Because Christian adoption agencies will now supposedly be forced to serve gay couples or go out of business. IFI spokesloon Laurie Higgins argues that if gays are free to adopt, then there's no reason to stop those millions of incestuous couples from having the same right.

Those who would prohibit loving, stable incestuous couples or polyamorous partners from fostering or adopting do so for the same kind of reason that those who would prohibit loving homosexual couples from fostering or adopting do: a belief that these kinds of relationships are morally flawed. Some argue that the belief that homosexual conduct is morally flawed is a prejudice and cannot be imposed on all of society. But then one could reasonably argue that the belief that adult consensual incest and polyamory are immoral is an ignorant, antiquated, provincial, bigoted, hateful prejudice that ought not to be imposed on all of society. One could also make an effective case that gender complementarity occupies such a central place in both marriage and parenting that incestuous and polyamorous partnerships are in some ways more defensible than homosexual couplings. Moreover, incestuous couples could make the case that their desire to adopt reveals their sense of responsibility in that procreation could result in serious birth defects. Shouldn't loving incestuous couples be allowed to have children? Is it fair to allow society's prejudice to prevent them from this basic right?

Of course, there's never been, as far as anybody knows, a single known publicly incestuous couple who wants to adopt. But little pesky details like that have never mattered to these nutjobs.

Inside Porno Pete's Hate Academy

Last week Friendly Atheist Hemant Mehta sent two undercover spies to Porno Pete's Hate Academy. Today Mehta posts the first in a three-part series exposing what went on. Here's a haters quote recap from "Perry and Maria":

Matt Barber: We should not be politically correct. It’s natural for gays to be reviled. It’s important to focus on the health risks of homosexuality, but we need to be aggressive and unapologetically loving.
Greg Quinlan: If you Bible-thump or talk about sex, it turns pro-gays off. If you give them the science, you sound like somebody in authority and they don’t know how to respond to that.
Arthur Goldberg: We need to use the term “homosexual” instead of “gay” because it has a more negative connotation. No one is gay; they’re only “gay identified.”
Cliff Kincaid: This issue of homosexuality affects you because gays are demanding to give blood. The hemophiliacs are outraged by the homosexual lobby saying they have a right to give blood. They want to force themselves into the blood supply in a callous and arrogant manner. Mothers need to speak up. Mothers, your children are at risk!
Laurie Higgins: Parents need to remove their children from public schools. Even after doing that, they need to make law changes because our taxes go to the public schools. When we are silent on this issue, we teach our children through role-modeling to be cowardly conformists. We bequeath a legacy of much greater oppression to our children and our grandchildren. At least I can say to my children that I did everything I could.
Rena Lindevaldsen: We need to work to completely eliminate public schools — government schools — and push a Christian/Biblical model of educating our children.
Ryan Sorba: We need to unify behind common winning talking points. Boycott the term “gay.” They are in no way attached to any kind of identity because it’s not an identity. They’re not functioning in accord with their design. We need to repeat over and over and over again that there is no scientific evidence that people are born gay. There is no study that proves causation. Psychiatrists need to reclassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.

Why Is Peter LaBarbera So Worried About Spies At His Young Haters Academy?

Earlier this month Porno Pete LaBarbera announced the launch of the Americans For Truth Academy, a three-day seminar in which, for $99, aspiring young homophobes can learn how to more effectively destroy the civil rights of LGBT people. Some of you suggested we send in an undercover observer, an idea also put forth by Friendly Atheist blogger and high school teacher Hemant Mehta, who offered to pay the registration fee if one if his readers wanted to go.

Cue Porno Pete, from a post titled Friendly Atheist Blogger Seeks Students To Spy On AFTAH Academy:

Hemant Mehta, a supposedly “Friendly Atheist” blogger and high school math teacher who not only can’t seem to understand the difference between “hate and bigotry” and disagreeing with homosexuality, but whose lack of judgment (i.e., using the F-word on a blog surely read by many of his students) makes him a poor role model for youth. But the biggest problem for Neuqua Valley students and their parents is Mehta’s vocal atheist activism. Something tells me that numbers and equations aren’t all that Mehta is talking about in his classroom.

LaBarbera goes on to quote a lengthy attack on Mehta from Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute, who says that by offering to pay for someone to attend LaBarbera's Hate Institute, Mehta's "publicly encouraging his students to be deceitful."

You may recall my assessment of his Three Day Hate seminar: "LaBarbera will train young people how to properly hate faggots and dykes and foster violent crimes against them. For a mere $99 donation, you can buy a budding young bigot a Scholarship In Hate™." Porno Pete actually went on the radio with Matt Barber to scream about how offensive that description was.

If we're wrong and LaBarbera is really just teaching Christian love and forgiveness for homosexuals, why in the world would he be so afraid of outside observers? You know the answer.

Marching Orders

Anti-gay groups are issuing their final directions for Christian students to walk out of any school that participates in this year's GLSEN Day Of Silence next Friday. The below is a joint message to parents from evil twin vipers Laurie Higgins (Illinois Family Institute) and Linda Harvey (Mission America).

Explain to your children why you’re taking a stand:
a. Homosexual behavior is not an innate identity.
b. No matter what factors may influence homosexual feelings, freely chosen homosexual behavior is immoral and should be resisted.
c. Homosexuality is not equivalent to race.
d. Disapproval of homosexuality is not equivalent to racism; nor is it hatred; nor is it bullying; nor does it constitute an incitement to violence. It is permissible and ethical to express disapproval of homosexuality. Just because someone may feel bad when hearing that someone disapproves of homosexuality does not mean that disapproval is cruel or wrong.
e. No school should support a view of homosexuality that is unproven and controversial, and that is physically, emotionally, and spiritually destructive to individuals and society.
f. No school should allow instructional time to be politicized.

Encourage your church leadership to follow the bold example of Pastor Ken Hutcherson who vocally opposed “Day of Silence” in his community in Redmond, Washington. He led the Walkout in his community, and over 600 out of 1,400 students were called out of school on the Day of Silence. Let your light shine by spreading the word to your church and neighbors. Explain that school districts lose money for every absence, which may help convince administrations and school boards that it is not merely unethical but fiscally irresponsible to allow the classroom to be used for political purposes.

The Great Nationwide Kiss-In, an event created in response to a spate of anti-gay incidents that arose out of gay men being publicly affectionate, takes place this Saturday, August 15th. Activists across the country have signed-on to take part, check out this Facebook action page for times and locations in your town.

Laurie Higgins of the vile Illinois Family Institute has issued a warning to Chicago families, saying they should be alert and avoid accidentally running into kissing homos. Higgins adds: "We're also urging that pro-family organizations find out if this event is taking place in cities near them, and that they would issue the same warning to families [regarding] what time the event will take place and where so that they can avoid this public spectacle."

Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute, which the Southern Poverty Law Center ranks as an anti-gay hate group, has issued this curious blind item about a local "moderate" GOP politician.

Now is the time for those running for public office in Illinois to come clean about the skeletons, or mistresses, or prostitutes, or congressional pages, or homosexual partners lurking in their closets. The past few years have been a veritable anti-treasure trove of political closet cleanings, and many Illinoisans are sick of them. Rumors have been swirling for years that a sometime-married elected Illinois representative who now seeks higher office is homosexual. Rumors continue to swirl that his sexual peccadillo and deceit have been aided and abetted by those who bask in his, I hope, dimming light, just as Mark Foley's double life was aided and abetted by Denny Hastert. Those who aid and abet in the sexual immorality and deceit of public servants do neither the public nor political parties any favors.

The scumbags at the IFI are among the nation's more outrageous Liars For Christ™, what with claiming that Carrie Prejean would have gone to jail under the Matthew Shepard Act, etc. I wonder why they're pulling their punches here of all places?
