On his top-rated show today, Savage played an audio clip of Breitbart telling an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington last month that he had obtained videos that shed light on Obama’s ties to radicals in the early 1980s who helped propel him to the presidency. “Maybe my overly active imagination kicked into overdrive,” Savage told his listeners of his decision to raise the question. “But you heard what Breitbart said – he has videos … we’re going to vet the president.”

Saying he is "unelectable," wingnut radio host (and alleged closet case) Michael Savage is offering Newt Gingrich $1M to drop out of the race within 72 hours.

Mr. Savage said Mr. Gingrich carries too much baggage as a candidate, that he failed to deliver on the Contract with America, cut a 2008 television ad with Nancy Pelosi "promoting the false theory of global warming" and took money to work on behalf of federal mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which he describes as "two of the most corrupt financial institutions in history." "He's cheated on two wives and left both of them while they were both seriously ill, which will destroy his chances among female voters," he said in the post, where he also took aim at his description of the Republican plan to reform Medicare as 'right wing social engineering' and warned he'd lose the image battle against Mr. Obama.

BRITAIN: New Government Refuses To Lift Travel Ban On Michael Savage

Britain's new government is refusing to lift its predecessor's travel ban for American radio blowhard Michael Savage unless he "repudiates" his previous inflammatory statements about Muslims and other groups. Savage whines to World Net Daily:

Savage today called his ordeal a "true nightmare of Kafka." "The 'new' British government continues 'the big lie' initiated by the previous British government, all based on extracts of radio programs over many years edited by Soros-backed Media Matters to slander me," he told WND. Savage said that after "over one straight year of legal hell, I had hoped the new British government would remove my name from their list of actual murderers and terrorists." "Apparently there's been a change of window figures in England," he said. Savage said his next course of action will be to take his case before the European Court of Human Rights. "The European Union seems to be very forgiving of those who have actually murdered people in terror acts," Savage said. "Let's see if they will defend my right to free speech."

UK Upholds Ban On Michael Savage

The UK's House Of Lords has upheld an entry ban on homophobic radio shock jock Michael Savage.

A ban on a US radio presenter entering the UK will be upheld, the government has said. Michael Savage, known for his strong views on homosexuality, Islam and abortion, was barred from entering the country in May last year. The shock jock, whose real name is Michael Weiner, was placed on a list of undesirables by former home secretary Jacqui Smith. He was listed alongside murders and terrorists on the blacklist. Others banned included the Westboro Baptist Church, Hamas MP Yunis Al-Astal and ex-Ku Klux Klan leader Stephen "Don" Black. The DJ says that while he has been accused of homophobia and racism, he has never incited violence.

Savage has threatened to sue the UK government for defamation. His ban on travel to the UK has been widely cited by the American wingnut press as an example of the suppression of free speech that they say the U.S. is headed for.

Rockstar Energy Drink Disavows Michael Savage, Donates $100K To LGBT Causes

After threatening to sue gay blog site The Bilerico Project for publishing a story linking the company to the anti-gay rantings of its founder's father, radio blowhard Michael Savage, Rockstar Energy Drink has issued a statement disavowing Savage and pledging $100K to LGBT causes.

ROCKSTAR Energy Drink CEO Russell Weiner announced today that the beverage company will expand its LGBT corporate policies and make $100,000 in donations, shared among several prominent LGBT organizations. The donations represent a significant contribution given ROCKSTAR's relatively small staff of 120 employees. The contribution will be shared among the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), and The Trevor Project, and ROCKSTAR Energy Drink will also financially sponsor the National LGBT Bloggers Initiative. The donations and affirmation of LGBT-friendly corporate policies mark steps by ROCKSTAR to demonstrate support for the LGBT community.

"It has recently come to ROCKSTAR's attention that there might be a misconception about our company's policy and my personal support for LGBT rights," said Weiner. "We apologize for that misunderstanding, and want to make clear today that our company fully supports our LGBT employees and our LGBT customers. Some have erroneously associated our company with offensive language directed at LGBT people, specifically statements coming from Michael Savage, who is not and has never been a shareholder or officer of ROCKSTAR Energy Drink. Michael Savage Threatens Watchdogs

Radio loon Michael Savage has threatened to post personal information about the folks at Media Matters on his website. Clearly, he's hoping for another Dr. Tiller.

Right wing talker Michael Savage vowed yesterday during his broadcast that he will retaliate against media watchdog Media Matters for America by posting pictures and “pertinent information” about the organization's staff on his website. He made the comment almost in passing during one of his infamous rants, but did not explain what he expected his followers known as the “Savage Nation” to do with the information.

So far he has posted nothing, but as you can see below, Media Matters remains uncowed.

Rockstar Energy Drink Threatens To Sue LGBT Blog Bilerico.com

Rockstar Energy Drink, the company owned by the son of viciously anti-gay radio host Michael Savage, has threatened the operators of Bilerico.com with a lawsuit for a post made calling for a boycott of the company. The post contends that Savage benefits financially from the profits of his son's company. Bilerico editor Bil Browning:

In April, guest blogger Michael Jones reported on Rockstar energy drink's connections with well-known homophobic radio host Michael Savage (real name: Michael Weiner). About a week ago, Rockstar's lawyers came calling and threatened legal action if we didn't immediately remove the offending post for "factual inaccuracies." The beverage company took issue with two sentences from our guest blogger's post. It claims they are untrue and should cause the post to be removed from the archives. Rockstar threatened several other bloggers and Facebook users with legal action - including Michael for his crosspost on Change.org. The company's legal team also contacted alternet.com, wiqaable.com, gaywired.com, gaysocialites.com, and So Cal Voice. Facebook closed the groups Rockstar complained about and, in some cases, deleted the user's account entirely. Change.org and other bloggers have removed their posts to avoid litigation. Our Terms of Service gives us the copyright for the version of Michael's post we published. We have offered Rockstar's lawyers a correction to the post, but we've refused to remove it. The guest post is currently the most popular article on the site.

Rockstar contends that contrary to the Bilerico story, Michael Savage "only advised" his son on the creation of the company and is not its cofounder nor does he benefit from its profits. Bil Browning points out that Savage's wife, however, IS the company's only listed officer other than her son. Browning says his site will not remove the post despite the threat of a lawsuit. An anti-Rockstar group has been resurrected on Facebook here.

Michael Savage To Sue UK Over Travel Ban

Radio host Michael Savage says he's going to sue UK Home Secretary Jacqui Smith for defamation after she included him on list of persons banned from visiting the country.

UK tabloid Daily Mail:

Michael Savage, who has up to 10 million listeners, branded Home Secretary Jacqui Smith a 'lunatic' and a 'witch' after being named alongside hate preachers and a member of Hamas. Last night lawyers suggested he had a strong case as he had not advocated violence, unlike others on the list. It was thought he could claim up to £200,000 in damages.

"I have been banned from Great Britain. I had not planned on going there, I had not been there in over 25 years. When I woke up this morning I just thought I could not be true. The point is that today it is me, tomorrow it will be somebody else. For her to link me up with skinheads who are killing people in Russia, to put me in league with mass murderers who kill Jews on buses, is defamation. I thought this was a joke or a mistake. How could they put Michael Savage in the same league with mass murderers when I have never avowed violence? As a result of this, I am going to sue. When has this witch heard my show, since it's not syndicated in England? She has painted a target on my back, linking me with people who are in prison for killing people. Does she not think people might hunt me down?"

An attorney for the ACLU described the travel ban as a form of censorship, saying, "While some of these people may express views that others find disagreeable, often the cure is worse than the disease. It also deprives the citizens of that country of their ability to hear dissenting views."

Jacqui Smith defended her actions, saying that Savage "is actually likely to cause inter-community tension or even violence" if allowed in the country. Smith: "Coming to this country is a privilege. If you can't live by the rules that we live by, the standards and the values that we live by, we should exclude you."

Now let's see if the litigation-loving Phelps join the lawsuit.

The UK does not want hatemongers entering their country and have released a "least wanted" list of banned persons.

Fred Waldron Phelps Snr, a 79-year-old American Baptist pastor, and his daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper are barred for their anti-gay comments. Both have picketed the funerals of Aids victims and celebrated the deaths of US soldiers as "punishment" for US tolerance of homosexuality. Talk show host Michael Savage - real name Michael Weiner - is also excluded. His views on immigration, Islam, rape and autism have caused great offence in America.

Some in the UK oppose banning visitors based on speech. Expect the U.S. rightwing to leap on this news as an example of the road America is headed down.

Autism Comments Fallout: Seven Stations Fire Michael Savage

Days after his claim that 99% of autistic children just need to be smacked into proper behavior, a seven-station radio network has cancelled Michael Savage's radio show.

Super Talk Mississippi, which owns and operates seven conservative radio stations in Mississippi, issued a press release today stating that Michael Savage and his radio show Savage Nation had been canceled effective immediately. The radio broadcaster said Savage had crossed-the-line with comments he made about autistic children.

Last week, media watchdog Media Matters posted on their site a transcript from radio talk show host Michael Savage where he claimed that autism was a “fraud” and a “racket” where “99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out.” Parents of autistic children were outraged. They said the comments were cruel and demanded an apology.

Instead of an apology, Savage lashed out at Media Matters. During Tuesday's three-hour Savage Nation broadcast, Savage called the group a “Stalinist,” “anti-family,” “illegitimate, dangerous fascist group.” He also asserted that the group “ha[s] no place in America.”

Savage has previously lost jobs for similar behavior, once telling an MSNBC caller to "die of AIDS, you pig." It appears that his comments on autism may have finally been enough for stations and advertisers. A boycott of his show has been organized by the parents of autistic children, some of whom protested outside the Manhattan studios of a local station that carries his show. Despite being rabidly anti-gay on his show, Savage has been reported to be a deeply-closeted gay man who once had an affair with legendary beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
