Kermit & Miss Piggy Go Splitsville

Miss Piggy has issued the same statement on Facebook. More from USA Today:
The gimmick for this new series is that it's a reality show taking us "behind the scenes" at Miss Piggy's talk show, Up Late with Miss Piggy. "We've been given unfettered access," says producer Bill Prady, best known for The Big Bang Theory. "We tried to fetter it," adds Kermit, "but it didn't work out." And yes, of course, Kermit was on the panel at the Television Critics Association press tour. And he was asked about his relationship with Miss Piggy. "Piggy and I have gone our separate ways romantically," Kermit says. "I guess it's just coming out in the press now. It can be tough to work with your ex. It can be tough to be the executive producer on your ex's talk show, particularly when your ex is a pig." Can they get back together? "People change. So do frogs and pigs." For now, though, Kermit has moved on. His latest girlfriend is a pig who works for ABC. "I do have an attraction to pigs."

First Look: The Muppets

The Nerdist recaps:
It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the light, it’s time to get unbelievably excited for The Muppets triumphant return to television! The fall of 2015 will see the return of Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo and the rest of the gang in a new Muppets series coming to ABC. In the trailer – that was first shown at SDCC – has Kermit explaining the new format of the show and all that it’ll entail. It seems much like The Office, Parks and Recreation and of course, ABC’s own Modern Family, it’ll be shot in the handheld documentary style that has become so very popular in the years since The Muppets have been off the air. As Kermit puts it, the new show will be “sort of an ‘adult’ Muppet Show” focusing more on the lives of the characters instead of it being sketch heavy and if the trailer is any indication – it seems ABC has nailed it. The trailer has quite a few familiar characters displaying their timeless shtick we grew up on mixed with the fast-paced comedic timing ABC has perfected with it’s shows like Modern Family and Black-ish.

November 3rd: Million Muppet March

Reuters has the story:
Plans to save Big Bird, the fuzzy yellow character on U.S. public television's "Sesame Street," from possible extinction are taking shape in the form of a puppet-based protest next month dubbed the "Million Muppet March." The demonstration is planned for November 3 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., three days before the general election. Before the presidential debate between Democratic President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney had concluded on October 3, two men who had never met each floated the Million Muppet March idea on social media. They immediately united to defend public broadcasting.

Death To Homo-Lover Kermit The Frog

"A Christian perspective ultimately brought the death penalty upon homosexuality between roughly 350 AD and roughly 1850 or so, for about 1,500 years that form of life had pretty much been eliminated except here and there, it was in the closet, but it was almost unheard of for over 1,000 years, until recently. Of course, now you have a massive, massive increase in this kind of thing. And Kermit the Frog is not eating Chick-fil-A either. Maybe Dan Cathy should consider doing a frog filet for one of the sandwiches." - Christian radio host Kevin Swanson, who also calls for "Miss Piggy on a bun" and suggests that the Muppets support NAMBLA. Also: Female Olympians are dressed like whores.

NOTE: Yesterday I listened to Swanson's entire 30-minute show via Right Wing Watch. The things I do for #YouPeople! Hit the link if you can bear it, the Christian Love has to be heard to be believed.

Chick-Fil-A Yanks Muppets Toys

Chick-Fil-A has announced that they are yanking all those homo-infected Muppets toys right out their Jeebus-approved kid's meals. Via Facebook:
Chick-fil-A is initiating a voluntary withdrawal for our Jim Henson Creature Shop Puppet Kid's Meal Premiums due to a product issue (even though all puppets passed safety testing requirements). In lieu of the kid's meal premium we will offer a Kid's Icedream. We plan to have replacement kid's meal premiums within 2 weeks. Thank you and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Product issue! Snicker. (Tipped by JMG reader Jeff)

UPDATE: The readers of Reddit's LGBT forum are in a ferocious debate over which came first, the Henson Company's dissolution of their partnership or Chick-Fil-A's claim of "product issues." Some contributors note that the two parties had probably broken up behind the scenes before the Henson Company's public announcement on Facebook.

The Muppets Dump Chick-Fil-A

The Muppets have dumped their partnership with Chick-Fil-A after having sold the company Creature Shop toys for the chain's kid's meals. The Jim Henson Company has posted a statement to their Facebook page:
The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD.
