CNN Panel On The N-Word & F-Word

Mediaite's Josh Feldman recaps the show:
They first tackled the n-word, with Don Lemon saying “you shouldn’t use that word like a pronoun” and Charles Blow admitting his conflicting feelings on the use of that particular word, even when used among young black youths. Lemon pointed out that it’s not just black youths, but also young white people who feel it’s okay to use that word. As for Baldwin, HuffPost’s Noah Michaelson argued Baldwin’s not necessarily homophobic, but then questioned why Baldwin’s mind automatically jumps to that word when he’s trying to insult someone. Morgan admitted in the second segment he wasn’t aware that “cocksucking” was an anti-gay phrase to begin with. He asked why gay men would want to use a phrase that’s been used to denigrate them. Michaelson said it’s about “reclaiming language,” while Lemon admitted that the word does not offend him because “if that’s the first and last thing that you can reach, then I’ve already won the argument.”
Advisory: No words are bleeped. You might want headphones if you're at work. It's a longish clip, but worth your time.

Sarah Palin To CNN's Piers Morgan:
Sorry I Can't Be On Your Show, But I'm Busy Shooting Bears In The Head

From her Facebook page: "Oh dear Piers, thank you so much for all your invitations to appear on your shambolic show, including the adoring message you sent. But is it still any wonder why I've politely responded that I'm too busy doing, um, er... pretty much anything to accept the invite? (At least I didn't tell you to 'get stuffed'.) And to all our British friends: we ask, what did your friends across the pond ever do to you to deserve your Piers?"
OK, who was it that taught Caribou Barbie the word "shambolic"?

Piers Morgan Vs Alan Gottlieb

This is the freak show that declared the anniversary of the Newtown massacre to be "Guns Save Lives Day." Via Mediaite:
The interview began in a hostile foundation and exploded when Gottlieb laughed at Morgan after he quoted the family member of a victim of the massacre at Newtown. “That’s totally over the top,” Gottlieb stressed. “You plan a campaign to promote the good side of guns on the first anniversary of the worst mass shooting at a school in American history, and you have the gall to laugh when I read out a quote from one of the victim’s families? How dare you,” Morgan shot back. “How dare you laugh.” “That doesn’t allow them to use that day either to attack my rights,” Gottlieb countered. “How many times a year do you attack gun rights on your show?”

Tea Party Darling James O'Keefe Promises Hidden Video Of CNN's Piers Morgan

You'd think O'Keefe would give up on his "hidden video" bullshit since he was just forced to pay a $100,000 settlement to a former employee of ACORN.

Piers Morgan Vs Alex Jones

Wingnut conspiracy theorist Alex Jones appeared on CNN last night to defend his petition to have Piers Morgan deported over his support for gun control. Mediaite provides a recap:
Jones said the point of the petition was to bring attention to the fact that United States has a bunch of foreigners bragging about taking away the guns of Americans while the gov’t amasses more weapons for themselves. He said that the Second Amendment isn’t for “duck-hunting,” it’s to protect us from “tyrannical government.” He raised his voice to declare to Morgan, “1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms!”

Morgan attempted to explain that the United States has significantly more gun murders than England, but Jones dismissed the argument outright. He called England a “police state,” telling Morgan he “fled” to the United States, going so far as to call Morgan a “hatchet man of the New World Order.” Morgan tried to patiently walk through the finer points of the gun control debate with Jones, but he went on tirade after tirade on an ever-angrier series of tangents. Jones repeatedly criticized Morgan for trying to trip him off with “little factoids” instead of getting to the heart of the gun debate.
This will be the craziest thing you'll see today, guaranteed.  Part 2 of the "interview" is at the link.

Petition Of The Day

Wall Street Journal columnist James Taranto is supporting the teabagger petition drive to deport CNN host Piers Morgan for daring to speak in favor of gun control.  The wingnut Daily Caller captured a Twitter exchange between the two:
“Ironic U.S. gun rights campaign to deport me for ‘attacking 2nd Amendment rights’ – is my opinion not protected under 1st Amendment rights?,” Morgan tweeted. “Your opinion is protected, your presence in the U.S. is not. See Kleindienst v. Mandel (1972),” Taranto replied to Morgan. Taranto linked to transcripts from a 1972 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the U.S. Attorney General’s refusal to allow a foreign journalist into the United States did not violate the First Amendment. The case resulted from Nixon administration attorney general Richard Kleindienst’s refusal to grant a temporary nonimmigrant visa to Marxist Belgian journalist Ernest Mandel. Taranto’s tweet was praised by Twitter users who would like to send Morgan back to his native land.
The residents of Teabagistan sure have their priorities in order.
