AFA Publishes Full-Page Anti-Gay Message To SCOTUS In The Washington Post

The American Family Association today published a full-page message to the Supreme Court in the Washington Post. Above is the top half of the ad. Here's the text in the lower half:
Marriage was neither manmade nor created by any law or Constitution. It was God’s plan and purpose for civilization from the beginning. He created man and woman as distinctly separate but inherently compatible; each unique yet sexually complementary – providing both the means for and the ideal relationship within which to raise children from that union.

Before you now is a great question: Will you bend what God designed merely to suit the desires of man, knowing that you do so at the expense of children, perhaps even civilization itself? If you decide to affirm marriage as between one man and one woman, you breath life into the natural order and stand as an example to generations that will arise after your decision.

But if you decide differently, you are choosing a path that will put the state on a legal and administrative collision course with hundreds of millions of Americans from all religions and faith practices who believe only God can define marriage. You would say by such a decision that mothers and fathers together are no longer relevant in the lives of children, and that religious expression about the sanctity and purpose of marriage would now become illicit.

You would be saying that God has no place in our public square and, in a nation founded to secure freedom for those being persecuted for their faith, such a decision would be a tragic irony. In so doing you would not only risk another Roe v. Wade tear in our cultural fabric, but also effectively delegitimize the very power of the court itself to rule justly.

Before you now is a great challenge: If your decision to resolve this matter forces same-sex marriage on America, you will have settled nothing. We urge the Court to adjudicate rightly that which is God’s alone to decide.

AFA Demands: Kagan And Ginsberg Must Recuse Themselves From Marriage Case

Via press release:
In light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s announcement that it will hear the issue, American Family Association says Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg should recuse themselves from making any same-sex marriage decisions because they have both conducted same-sex marriage ceremonies.

“Both of these justices’ personal and private actions that actively endorse gay marriage clearly indicate how they would vote on same-sex marriage cases before the Supreme Court,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “Congress has directed that federal judicial officers must disqualify themselves from hearing cases in specified circumstances. Both Kagan and Ginsburg have not only been partial to same-sex marriage but they have also proven themselves to be activists in favor of it. In order to ensure the Court’s integrity and impartiality, both should recuse themselves from same-sex marriage cases. Congress has an obligation to Americans to see that members of the Supreme Court are held to the highest standards of integrity. The law demands it, and the people deserve it.”
The AFA has also published an action alert which calls on their "one million-plus" supporters to email their members of Congress.

AFA Issues Year-End Money Beg, Warns Of New Top Secret Anti-Gay Weapon

"Early next year, AFA will launch a new project unlike any other in the pro-family movement. It’s been almost a year in the making and we’re just about ready to release it. Because atheists and homosexual activists will go all out to attack AFA and this revolutionary new tool for Christians and their families, I can’t go into much detail right now. But I can tell you that we have put an enormous amount of work and financial resources behind it. Your financial support couldn’t come at a more critical time. AFA is one of a handful of groups actually fighting back against the secularists and the humanists in an organized fashion and making a real difference. Won’t you please consider making a small contribution to help us continue our work? First, it’s tax-deductible. AFA is a 501c3 organization and depends entirely on friends like you to keep us going strong. Secondly, I want to send you a free gift as a way of saying thanks for your support. Please make your generous donation today!" - American Family Association head Tim Wildmon, via email.

AFA Head Tim Wildmon: The Human Rights Campaign Has Declared War On Christians

“There is a war against the Bible in America and a war to marginalize the millions of Americans who believe the Bible. HRC is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in outside monies to undermine what Scripture teaches and to insult, denigrate and target those who hold to Scripture. For an organization that claims tolerance, HRC employs deceptive tactics and outright lies to attack those who respectfully disagree with them. This is hardly tolerance. AFA will not be fooled by this campaign to normalize homosexuality in the southern states. And we hope others won’t be fooled either. The ads are deceptive and meant to mislead. It’s never OK to bully, harass or physically assault homosexual individuals. These ads tell outright lies claiming Bible-believers favor such hateful and violent practices. When you have to lie to make your case, it’s a clear indication your case is devoid of truth." - Mississippi-based American Family Association head Tim Wildmon, reacting to the HRC ad campaign seen in clips like the one posted here earlier today.

RELATED: In recent months the American Family Association has declared that the First Amendment only applies to Christians, that HIV is not the cause of AIDS, that the Human Rights Campaign is controlled by "murderous demons," that all immigrants should forcibly converted to Christianity, that God kicked Native Americans off their land for "sinning against him," and that Houston Mayor Annise Parker is a member of the Gestapo. But they certainly are against bullying and harassing!

AFA Has The Burger King Sadz

The American Family Association is ever so pissed with Burger King and is asking their followers to sign onto this boycott letter:
I am offended by Burger King's stunt in offering a so-called "Proud Whopper" in San Francisco. What were you thinking? Your celebrated promotion of cross-dressers and homosexuality is an insult to families and I find your celebration of abhorrent behavior as a reason to dine elsewhere. I hope you will learn from this publicity blunder and realize that while most stores did not participate in the corporate-approved program, the damage has been done and affects the image of all Burger King outlets.
AFA president Tim Wildmon warns: "Unless there is some pushback from consumers, there is a real possibility that they could expand this promotion." (Tipped by JMG reader DM)

Tim Wildmon: God Will Destroy America Because Obama Supports LGBT Rights

"Our president is promoting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and queer agenda like there is no tomorrow. God says homosexuality is immoral, unnatural and unhealthy and should be repented of, not embraced and celebrated as a valid 'alternative lifestyle.' In addition, much of our popular culture is in open rebellion against God. Though they have little if any understanding of the Scripture, they routinely mock its message. Humanly speaking, it’s easy to lose hope because the effects on our country by this kind of godlessness are devastating. The Scripture shows us that God sometimes destroyed nations for their rebellion against His moral standards and their lack of repentance. It will happen to us as well if we continue down this path away from God." - Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association.

AFA Claims Victory Over Home Depot

"I'm glad to report to you that we are suspending the boycott of Home Depot. After monitoring the company for several months, AFA is satisfied the company has withdrawn its major financial contributions to gay activist groups and events. I truly believe this is a direct result of your willingness to become involved. In fact, more than 750,000 people signed the Boycott Home Depot Pledge. Although Home Depot has made changes, we will continue to monitor their behavior. We suspect Home Depot will publicly deny having made changes, but their actions speak louder than words. Your AFA will continue to challenge major U.S. companies to remain neutral in the culture wars rather than to use their resources to promote anti-family issues. Thank you for standing with us. Our efforts are making a difference!" - American Family Association president Tim Wildmon, claiming victory despite the fact that Home Depot's stock value has more than tripled since the start of their boycott and that they'll "publicly deny" today's claim. I'll reach out to the company today and ask about this.

UPDATE: Zack Ford at Think Progress beat me to it and already has a statement from Home Depot:
"We haven’t made any changes to our policies for inclusion and respect of all people, regardless of their sexual orientation. We have not directed our associates to discontinue participation in Pride or other community events, and have no intention of doing so."
I've got a call in to Home Depot's media liaison and will update this post again if I get a response.

UPDATE II: I just got a call from Home Depot's communications director, who didn't have much more to offer than the above statement, but he was very friendly and direct in confirming what was said to Think Progress. I thanked him for company's continuing support of our community.

Hate Groups Threaten To Leave GOP If Gay Marriage Opposition Is Ended

The above hate group leaders and crackpots have signed a letter to RNC chairman Reince Preibus in which they threaten to end their support for the GOP if the party platform is amended to remove the opposition to same-sex marriage.  Here's an excerpt:
Many homosexuals are active in the GOP because they agree with Republicans on economic issues. The fact that the Party is strongly committed to traditional marriage has not prevented their involvement through GOProud or Log Cabin Republicans. We deeply resent the insinuation that we have treated homosexuals unkindly personally.

And we would like to point out that in the four blue states where voters narrowly voted for same sex marriage in 2012, Mitt Romney, who refused to discuss the issue, lost by an average of five points more than the state initiatives to preserve marriage.

We respectfully warn GOP Leadership that an abandonment of its principles will necessarily result in the abandonment of our constituents to their support. We could not change that even if we wished to.

As a gesture of good faith and an affirmation of its positions, we strongly recommend that the RNC meeting in Los Angeles on April 9th pass a resolution reaffirming its support of the 2012 National GOP Platform adopted in Tampa.
The RNC meeting continues until the end of the week. Think Progress has the text of a proposed meeting resolution that reaffirms the continued opposition to same-sex marriage. Hit that link and you'll note that the resolution copiously cites the widely-debunked Regnerus study.

AFA Head Tim Wildmon: Same-Sex Marriage Will Bring Hate Speech Laws

"You’re headed down the road of persecution against Christians who believe in the Bible as their standard for moral behavior. In Canada now they have different rules there where you can’t even criticize the lifestyle itself or you’ll be charged with a hate crime. You know that’s the road we’re headed down if these laws, if DOMA is struck down, if Prop 8 is struck down, then you’re headed for control of speech, even if it’s religious speech." - American Family Association president Tim Wildmon, speaking yesterday on Christian radio. AFA Tells Pastor Louie Giglio To Reject Obama Inauguration Gig

The gays aren't the only ones upset with Pastor Louie Giglio's selection to perform the benediction at President Obama's second inauguration.  The American Family Association doesn't like it either.
"Louie Giglio has made some of the best DVDs you'll ever see, theologically," Wildmon stated on American Family Radio. "He's done a wonderful job, I think, of galvanizing Christian young people with these Passion conferences, with sound Bible teaching. We've applauded Louie for that."  Upwards of 60,000 students were in attendance at the 2013 Passion Conference in Atlanta last week.
Still, Wildmon says if he were Giglio, he would respectfully decline the invitation. "Louie Giglio did not say 'I endorse or embrace President Obama's political agenda' -- [but] if I were Louie Giglio," continued the AFA president, "I would say 'This could hurt my credibility within the Christian community because it seems to be an implicit endorsement of President Obama by participating.'"
