The photos above are from where Dr. Jeff and I were in the backstage area last night, where we could see Cher's giant teleprompters, which not only scrolled the words to her hits, but included stage directions. Tell the truth (point, point), This is a woman's world (four fist pumps), This is a woman's world. I'm not convinced that the vocals were entirely live, but ten thousand gay men did not care in the least and their singing was almost as loud as the sound system. Three songs: Strong Enough, Believe, Woman's World. The first clip is by my pal Matt Rettenmund of Boy Culture. Cher was introduced by surprise guest Whoopi Goldberg.

Mediaite takes note:
Ann Coulter‘s Thursday morning appearance on The View was as uncomfortably tense as one likely would expect. While discussing her new book Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama, Coulter got into a heated tiff with all of the co-hosts (except conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck), with Whoopi Goldberg taking the most offense, demanding that the conservative columnist explain how much she actually knows “about being black.”

A new cell phone app gives worried parents a checklist of items that might provide clues to their son's homosexuality. Whoopi rips it to shreds.

During a View discussion on the Giffords shooting, Barbara Walters said that she feels sorry for Sarah Palin, who she feels is being unfairly singled-out in the wake of the Arizona shooting. All four members of the panel had strongly denounced Palin's crosshairs map when it was first published.

This morning Joy Behar announced on The View that she is making a $5000 donation to the NYC-based AIDS charity God's Love We Deliver "in Sharron Angle's name." Whoopi Goldberg: "You know what, I'm gonna match that, baby." Barbara Walters jumped in, "I'll match that too, but because it's a good cause, not because it's political."Labels: AIDS, Joy Behar, Sharron Angle, The View, Whoopi Goldberg
True Blood star Anna Paquin comes out as bisexual in this star-studded plea against hate crimes created by Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund. The campaign's website, We Give A Damn, is down at the moment, doubtlessly due to gossip sites freaking out over Paquin's unanticipated revelation.

Whoopi Goldberg sends a message to the people of Hungary, saluting all the gay Pride marchers and urging the government and citizens to behave respectfully and peacefully towards the participants. Just fantastic! And today the Budapest police gave their official permission for the parade.
Budapest police officially announced on Monday that they were registering this coming Saturday's Gay Pride parade, and warned residents to expect significant road closures during the event. Police can ban events or register them, but they do not grant permits. The parade is a manifestation of the right to assembly of Hungarian citizens, said a police statement. "All citizens in Hungary have the right to demonstrate and to express their opinions," it added. Last Friday, Ilona Ekes, a member of the main opposition Fidesz Party called on the police to ban the gathering, saying it could create fear and revulsion in people and endanger the development of minors. And she called for a social and professional dialogue on homosexuality, which she called a "mental injury."

Barbara Walters gets a few punches in too. Good stuff. Too bad it's about something as silly as seating on Amtrak instead of Beck's outrageous statements against gays and immigrants.

From today's show, watch at the 6:00 minute mark of the first clip where Joy Behar says right to McCain's face that his ads are "lies". Check out McCain's face right then. In the second clip McCain says that Roe V. Wade was "very bad decision" and he'd appoint Supreme Court justices who will strictly interpret the constitution. That's when Whoopi wonders, "Should I be worried about being a returned to being a slave?"
