DC Eagle Nightclub To Relocate
Washington DC's Eagle nightclub has been granted a 30-day extension on its lease and will remain open through the end of this month, much to the relief of Mid-Atlantic Leather attendees. Yesterday the Leather Journal (not office safe) published details about a new location scheduled to open late this summer.
The updated 16,000 square-foot building, which was originally a slaughter house, will consist of three floors, a roof-top deck and outdoor courtyard with barbecue pit and a covered loading dock. Each floor will offer a distinct venue and environment including a first floor full service restaurant, the second floor DC Eagle with an adjacent Cigar Bar - Terminal Alley, and the third floor dance bar with DJ booth and live performance area. The DC Eagle wishes to thank their extraordinary patrons, clubs, teams and social groups who have called the DC Eagle their home for the past 42 years, and look forward to serving everyone at their interim pop-up locations and permanent home long into the future. The new location is at 3701 Benning Road NE, which seems rather far from the current site. (I always get confused in DC.) But with so many long-running gay nightclubs shuttering across the nation, it's great that the DC Eagle has found a new home.
