Morning View - Fashion Walk Of Fame

Beginning in 1999, the Fashion Center Business Improvement District began selecting honorees for the Fashion Walk Of Fame, which runs along the east side of Seventh Avenue from 35th to 41st streets. To meet the criteria for the Walk, fashion designers must have had a "clear and significant New York presence", must have owned their own business for ten years, and must have had a "significant impact on fashion through either innovative design or the use of materials, or significantly influenced the way America dresses." First year selectees included Bill Blass, Halston, Rudi Gernreich, and Claire McArdell. There are 24 plaques at present. (I only shot this picture of Betsey Johnson's plaque because nobody happened to be standing on it.)
