#1 This Week In 1976

Scottish boy band Bay City Rollers got their name by throwing a dart at a map of the United States. The first shot landed on Arkansas, but they didn't care for "Arkansas Rollers". Their second shot landed on Bay City, Michigan. During the height of "Rollermania", the band played arenas worldwide which were filled with screaming teenage girls waving the band's trademark tartan scarves. Saturday Night is one of the few songs to top the charts in which the title (or a portion in this case) is spelled out in the lyrics. R-e-s-p-e-c-t, y'all.

TRIVIA: Although they're often cited as a one-hit wonder, the Rollers actually landed six singles in the American Top 40, including Money Honey (#9), You Made Me Believe In Magic (#10), and their cover of Dusty Springfield's I Only Wanna Be With You (#12).
