Denmark Gets Gay Adoption

Gay couples in Denmark now have the same adoption rights as heterosexuals. In 1999 Denmark became the first country in the world to allow same-sex couples to adopt their partners' children. Although many European countries already permit gay adoption, the Danish parliament narrowly approved the new law by a 62-53 vote. The measure had been voted down six times in recent years.
