Where Things Stand
NPR provides the below map to marriage equality in the United States, now updated to reflect the decision in Iowa. Green states have full marriage equality or civil unions/domestic partnerships, blue states have DOMA-style laws against recognizing same-sex relationships. Go here for the interactive version which explains the situation in each of the striped states, although it could be argued that Washington state, which offers some domestic partners benefits, should be striped as well.
