Help Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL)
Fellow blogger Mike Rogers wrote me this morning to request I help publicize the response to right wing attacks against Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), who has been targeted because of his now-famous speech on the House floor claiming that the Republican health care strategy is for Americans to "die quickly." The GOP is especially seething over this Grayson quote about Dick Cheney: "I have trouble listening to what he says sometimes because of the blood that drips from his teeth when he's talking."
Even the New York Times is calling Grayson "the liberals' problem child."
Mr. Grayson could be the latest incarnation of what in the American political idiom is known as a wing nut -- a loud darling of cable television and talk radio whose remarks are outrageous but often serious enough not to be dismissed entirely. Mr. Grayson is the more notable because he hurls his nuts from the left in a winger world long associated with the right.Well, if Grayson is our first wingnut, I'm happy to have him. Conservatives and GOP activists are now pouring money into Grayson's Florida district in support of Armando Gutierrez and have launched an anti-Grayson site called My Congressman Is Nuts. In response, Act Blue has posted a donation page for Grayson. Do what you can to help the one Democrat who is saying what we are all thinking.
