Lithuania Pride Is Back On
A court in Lithuania has overturned the ban on Baltic Pride.
A Lithuanian appeals court says a gay pride parade can go ahead as planned this weekend, overturning a ban imposed by a lower court that cited security concerns. Law enforcement officials have warned that Saturday's parade in downtown Vilnius could spark violence and should be canceled, an argument that swayed the lower court. But the Supreme Administration Court said Friday that the rights to assembly and expression are guaranteed by the European Convention and the government is obligated to defend them. The parade is tomorrow. Let's hope everybody stays safe.
