NYC Commission Unanimously Refudiates Attempt To Block Ground Zero Mosque
By a 9-0 vote, moments ago the New York City Landmarks Preservation Committee refused to grant landmark status to the former Burlington Coat Factory building where an Islamic group plans to build a 13-story mosque and welcome center. The vote clears the way for the developer the remove the building and proceed. The site is two blocks away from Ground Zero and the plan was loudly denounced by teabaggers, Sarah Palin, and most right-wing groups.
