Daily Ungrumble
Remember how much I detest those self check-out stations at CVS and elsewhere? Well, I ran into the same thing at a hotel for the first time this weekend in Philadelphia and I must report with chagrin that I actually liked it. No line at the unstaffed front desk, just a quick credit card swipe and the machine spat out my room key and a slip of paper with the room number on it. Like at CVS, there was a staffer floating around to deal with any problems, but there's not much to go wrong and there's no robot voice screaming at you to place your motherfucking item on the motherfucking tray.
