GetEQUAL Stages DADT Vigil At Grave Of Gay Vietnam Vet Leonard Matlovich
Members of GetEQUAL, including Lt. Dan Choi, this morning staged a DADT repeal vigil at the grave site of Leonard Matlovich, the Vietnam vet who was the first gay man to fight for the right to serve in the U.S. military. The grave's headstone, which does not bear Matlovich's name, reads: “When I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one.”
UPDATE: The group has moved to the Senate office building where they are about to attempt to accost Sen. Harry Reid. (And ask him about Choi's West Point ring, which Reid promised to return to Choi upon the repeal of DADT.)
