Press Release Of The Day
JMG reader David sends us his translation of the latest press release from the organizers of France's anti-gay marriage movement.
The "Manif Pour Tous" has duly noted the Paris Police Prefecture’s order, dated March 18, 2013 prohibiting our march on the Champs-Élysées planned for this March 24th. The order also prohibits demonstrators from entering Place de la Concorde, Place de l'Étoile, and the Esplanade des Invalides. The "Manif Pour Tous" has filed a request for intervention within 48 hours by a judge qualified to decide on the right to assemble freely. We should know the judge's ruling by tomorrow.
Given the binding nature of this order, the "Manif Pour Tous" is required to halt temporarily all action and all calls for assembling in prohibited locations. Nevertheless, the "Manif Pour Tous" reassures motivated French citizens that the demonstration will take place as scheduled on March 24th, in Paris, and in a strictly legal framework. We will keep you abreast of the latest developments. Our determination, like yours, has grown all the more given this political decision disguised as a police measure!
