Quinn Dominates NYC Mayoral Poll
New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn continues to dominate the polls for the coming mayoral race according to a Quinnipiac survey released last week, which shows her just three points shy of the 40% needed to avoid a Democratic runoff. The survey also shows Quinn beating any Republican opponent by a 4-1 margin. Asked how they'd feel about a lesbian mayor, 78% of respondents indicated that they are "enthusiastic about" or "comfortable with" that prospect. Quinn would become the first female and first openly gay mayor in city history. She has yet to officially announce her candidacy.
