Defund Obamacare Dem Explains
"It is irresponsible to add unrelated provisions to legislation to keep our government running. I have always preferred straightforward legislating that avoids political games. However, I believe we should avoid shutting down the government, and I voted for a continuing resolution to keep the legislative process working toward that end today." - Rep. Jim Matheson (D-UT), who was one of two Democrats who today voted for the bill that both defunds Obamacare and authorizes funding the rest of the federal budget. Tea Party site Daily Caller notes that Matheson won reelection in November by fewer than 3000 votes in the most heavily-Republican district currently held by a Democrat. And that's probably the real story.
RELATED: The Human Rights Campaign ranks Matheson lower than any Democrat in Congress, with only a 5% approval rating. He is a cosponsor of ENDA, but opposes marriage equality.
