Cops Find 50 Bags Of Heroin In Home Of Late Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman
New York City investigators today reported finding "large quantities" of heroin in the Manhattan home of Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead yesterday in his bathroom with a syringe still in his arm.
Authorities investigating the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman found close to 50 bags containing what is believed to be heroin in his apartment, two law enforcement sources familiar with the probe said Monday. Investigators also found several bottles of prescription drugs, and more than 20 used syringes in a plastic cup, the sources said. The bags were stamped with "Ace of Hearts" and "Ace of Spades" -- street names for heroin, the sources said.CNN reports that some of the drugs found at the scene are commonly prescribed to help addicts kick their habit. Some outlets are quoting an anonymous source who claims that Hoffman had been spending $10,000 per month on heroin.
