TEXAS: Police Arrest Suspect In 2012 Murder Of Teenage Lesbian
Nearly two years ago a young lesbian was shot and killed and her girlfriend was severely wounded as they visited a south Texas park. Vigils for the pair were held that weekend in several major cities. Yesterday police finally arrested a suspect.
David Malcolm Strickland, 27, was arrested Friday by U.S. Marshals and Texas Rangers in the San Antonio suburb of Helotes, local media reported. He is facing charges of capital murder, aggravated assault with a weapon and aggravated sexual assault in the June 23, 2012, attack on Mollie Olgin, 19, who died in the shooting. Olgin's girlfriend, Kristene Chapa, then 18, survived. “He’s a stone cold killer who thought he got away with murder, but will finally pay for his crime,” Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. “My sympathies and condolences go to the victims and their families who had to endure this wicked act of violence.”Police has not yet publicly speculated as to a motive. The surviving victim continues to undergo rehabilitation for her brain injuries.
