INDIANA: Attorney General Requests En Banc Review From Seventh Circuit

Via the Indianapolis Star:
Indiana's attorney general is asking for a review by the full federal appeals court of his appeal of an earlier ruling throwing out the state's ban on same-sex marriages. Attorney General Greg Zoeller said in a news release Saturday that he is asking the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for a hearing before the full court (en banc) of 10 judges "to more quickly resolve the uncertainty and chaos surrounding these cases." Zoeller noted that the court already has scheduled an expedited briefing of the state's case that initially starts with a three-judge panel. "This extraordinarily important legal issue deserves the review and consideration of the entire 7th Circuit Court of Appeals under the existing, expedited schedule for this case," Zoeller said. "En banc review would serve to provide the Supreme Court with the insights and judgment of ten well-respected judges, rather than just three, which would benefit the judicial review process no matter the outcome."
Illinois and Wisconsin are also under the jurisdiction of the Seventh Circuit.
