IRELAND: Sinn Fein Launches Vote Yes Campaign For Same-Sex Marriage

Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has today appealed to voters not to try to punish the Government in the same-sex marriage referendum. Deputy Adams was speaking as his party launched their campaign for a Yes vote. They plan to distribute 500,000 leaflets and call to as many doors as possible. The Louth TD said that the issue is too serious to use as a protest vote against the Government. "People should not be using this issue to punish the government - this is bigger than any political party, it's bigger than any politician," he said. "This is just about giving a very modest and basic right of equality to people who are Irish citizens.The referendum in May 22nd.
