TEXAS: State House GOP Issues Anti-Gay Marriage Letter In Wake Of Bill's Death
Texas state Rep. Cecil Bell's bill to triple-super-extra ban same-sex marriage died last night after the midnight deadline passed without it reaching a vote. Today 93 out of 98 members of the House GOP signed onto a letter in which they vow to continue fighting.
The letter concludes: "Tradition marriage is the bedrock institution of our society and the success Texas has been blessed to experience since our admission as the 28th state within these United States of America. We, therefore, affirm the preservation of the present definition of marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman as husband and wife, as pledge to uphold this principle that is so dearly held by Texans far and wide."
