BRITAIN: Scott Lively Debates Newly Out Christian Singer Vicky Beeching

US pastor Scott Lively, who believes gay people can be ‘cured’, came to blows with lesbian Christian rock star Vicky Beeching yesterday (14 August). He told her she had ‘given into a lie’ into believing there is any such thing as a ‘gay person’. Beeching, a British theologian and musician who made her name in the US Bible Belt and came out this week, said she wants to become an advocate for gay rights within the church. But Lively has called on Beeching to not succumb to the ‘temptations of the flesh’ and repent her ‘sins’. The pastor, on trial for crimes against humanity for advising the Uganda government on drafting their anti-gay law, continued urging her to shrug of the ‘identity’ she has ‘adopted’. When he asked her whether she cared what ‘God thinks’, she said: ‘I do and that actually why I am taking this step today so young people don’t have to listen to the kind of teaching you peddle, because it damages people.’

Channel 4 Interviews Scott Lively

Britain's very gay-friendly Channel 4 yesterday broadcast the below interview with Scott Lively. The interviewer confronted Lively about his responsibility for Uganda's brutal anti-gay crackdown:

When I went on to point out that the President Obama is "wholeheartedly" against this legislation, Dr Lively chuckled and said: "I think Obama may as well be a homosexual himself. He is certainly a radical homosexualist - meaning a person, whether they are homosexual or not, meaning a person who is 100 per cent invested in the homosexual agenda." Rather perplexed by his unexpected comment, I said; "So you think Obama is a homosexual?" He replied: "I think he may be." I asked Dr Lively what his view was based upon and he referred to an article on an online site, World Net Daily. When I asked if he thought President Obama was part of the gay agenda, he replied: "Anyone who is trying to break down the protections for the natural family and legitimize sexual perversion is complicit in the recruitment of children."

That World Net Daily article, of course, was based on deranged claims by Chicago homocon blogger Kevin DuJan.  Watch the video.

Russia Attacks Britain's Channel 4 Documentary About Their Gay-Bashers: Brits Treat Redheads The Same Way

The Russian embassy in London today outrageously condemned Channel 4's chilling documentary Hunted, saying that the anti-gay violence seen in the film is "slanderous" and is no worse than how Brits treat redheads in their own country. The Telegraph reports:

Russia has attacked a Channel 4 film about attacks on homosexuals in the country, saying a similar documentary could have been made about abuse towards redheads in Britain. 'Hunted', a documentary about gangs who abduct and beat gay men and women, is part of a "well-engineered campaign of slander" timed to coincide with the Winter Olympics, Russia's embassy in London said. The embassy said the Channel 4 film screened last week was "hate propaganda" and "full of distorted facts and unverifiable allegations". The Russian state does not condone attacks on gay people, diplomats insisted. “The documentary’s emotional appeal is misleading, since the film falls far short of the standards of professional journalistic investigation.

"One could have easily whipped up such 'documentary' about a hunting season on redheads in the UK saying that 'ginger' people face unmotivated verbal and physical abuse on a daily basis," it said. “If the authors of the documentary really had evidence of rampant gay hate crimes in Russia, they wouldn’t need to wait until an international sporting event takes place in Russia to raise the alarm. While violent attacks on homosexuals sometimes take place in Russia, just like in many other European countries, this does not mean that they are condoned, supported or, let alone, encouraged by the Government. Such attacks are few and far between and by no means reflect general sentiments of the Russian people.”

HUNTED: British Documentary Follows Russian Gay Bashers "Going On Safari"

Britain's Channel 4, which yesterday rebranded itself in protest of Russia's anti-gay crackdown, has aired a chilling documentary titled Dispatches: Hunted in which journalists travel with gangs of Russian gay bashers to record their vicious actions.

Lucy Mangan reviews the show for the Guardian:

The gangs call it "going on safari". It is apt, given how comprehensively the church, state, legislature and their own brutal instincts have combined to dehumanise gay men and women. "I just consider them spiritually and morally ill. Even cattle don't engage in this," pronounces one representative priest. The terms "paedophile" and "homosexual" are used interchangeably in public and private discourse. Not content with effectively criminalising anything but negative portrayals of, references to or teachings about homosexuality, influential members of the Russian parliament are currently trying to strengthen the new legislation so that the children of gay couples can be taken away from them and put into care. As one gay woman – a mother of three, who did not want to be identified – said, it would be a law to make Hitler proud.

In the meantime, things are horrific. Footage is shown of some of the thousands of attacks that have taken place across Russia since the anti-"gay propaganda" law was passed: a man kicked in the face and falling back unconscious; a man forced naked into a bath being handed a dildo and having a bottle of piss poured over him; and a man with a gun to his head being forced to rape himself with a bottle. The Dispatches team itself is there when the gang they are filming – which seems to be a loose coalition of two groups calling themselves Parents for Russia and Occupy Paedophilia – manages to lure a victim back to a flat. Their taunting ("How do you all become gay? Do you just sit at home and decide to take it up the arse?") and mental torture (which, on account of the director's camera does not become physical this time) lasts an hour. "We followed him out," says the voiceover, "to offer assistance and support." His suffering, of course, will continue once the film of his "interview", as the gang calls it, is posted.

Britain's Channel 4 Rebrands Logo During Olympics In Support Of Russian Gays

Channel 4 is to rebrand its on-screen logo with rainbow colours of the gay pride flag – and launch a TV ad campaign called "Gay Mountain" – joining the rising wave of protests about Russia's anti-gay laws on the eve of the opening of the Sochi Winter Olympics. Channel 4, which has the TV broadcast rights to the Winter Paralympics, joins the growing ranks showing their support for gay athletes and protest against Russia's anti-gay laws. The broadcaster's distinctive logo will be rebranded on Friday, the day of the opening ceremony, and the "what's on next" screens that air between shows will be similarly rainbow-emblazoned for the day.
