Disqus Disables Downvoting

In case you haven't noticed, Disqus turned off the downvote counter a couple of days ago: "Downvotes are still counted but will no longer display the total number of votes. This action will still be denoted by the voting arrow turning red." No reason is given for the change. On some sites, moderators have encouraged readers to merely write "downvote" or "disagree" under comments they don't like.

If You Can't See Disqus Comments...

A couple of JMG readers have reported that Disqus comments haven't shown for them in a few days. Members of this Mozilla forum appear to have sourced the problem to a recent update to the AVAST anti-virus program. The issue appears limited to Firefox and IE.  If you're having this problem, hit the link and try their suggested fix. Thanks to JMG reader Enzo for the help.

Uncloaking The Downvoters

Disqus just alerted everybody that starting "over the next few days", you'll be able to see who upvoted or downvoted your comments.  Sort of how you can see who "liked" your posts on Facebook, but here you'll also be able to see who thinks you're full of it. Oh, this should be fun.
