SF Eagle To Reopen

Via the website:
It will take a couple of months to do the much-needed repairs and upgrades that the property requires, but some upcoming events are already in the works prior to the opening of the bar. Please check this website periodically for new announcements coming soon. The bar and patio located at 398 12th Street has long been a special place, not only to the LGBT community, but to the entire community for decades, not to mention the live music community as well. We just couldn’t let such a historic place like this disappear!

TONIGHT: Save The SF Eagle Meeting

As I noted yesterday, San Francisco's venerable Eagle Tavern is scheduled to close at the end of the month. Tonight community activists will meet to discuss "strategies for fighting the Eagle's closure, as well as the ongoing crisis of loss of gay property ownership in San Francisco and the continuing erosion of our iconic gay bar scene." SF's Eagle Tavern To Close

Readers are emailing this weekend to report that staffers at San Francisco's Eagle Tavern are telling patrons that the iconic Sunday beer bust hangout will be closing in two weeks. Last January a local website reported that the building was for sale and provided the below rendering of what may be built at that location. Man, I'm gonna miss that dump.

SF Eagle For Sale

A reader sends us this rendering of a proposed building for the site of the SF Eagle, which is for sale. According to commenters on the linked item, the owner will retain the Eagle's sister bar, the Hole In The Wall. Will the SF Eagle relocate, should a buyer be found? Insiders, weigh in please. I've had some fantastic times at the ramshackle, broke down, SF Eagle. Most of my favorite bars have been in that sort of condition.
