Put A Ring On It
Surely by now you've heard about the latest YouTube sensation, Shane Mercado, whose fabulously swishy home video performance of Beyonce's Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) has garnered a zillion views. Mercado recreated his moves on the Bonnie Hunt Show last week with the help of a green screen.
There are now loads of other YouTubers with their own versions of the dance, and browsing the clips I learned that the Beyonce's choreography was a move-for-move homage to the late Gwen Verdon, Bob Fosse's wife. Here's the '60's-era clip that inspired Beyonce's moves, set to Single Ladies.
