CNN On Hate Crimes Passage
Dan Savage and NYC activist Corey Johnson joined Anderson Cooper last night to discuss the passage of the Matthew Shepard Act. Savage calls the bill's passage significant but a "largely symbolic" move that will give the Obama administration "cover" for future inaction. Corey Johnson agrees, pointing out that the hate crimes bill has had broad support in Congress for "many, many years," but that this is a "good first step. "
Personal note: I don't know how or when Corey got over to CNN last night, I was hanging out with him for much of the evening. Magic!
