Today's prayer from the Family Research Council:
ABC-Disney’s New Low – Our friends at the Media Research Center (MRC) are promoting a petition urging Disney-owned ABC to cancel its new series highlighting one of the nation’s nastiest, openly anti-Christian homosexual activists, Dan Savage. The supposed-to-be-funny TV show, is a new low in youth “entertainment” from Disney. Its agenda is clearly to mainstream homosexuality, and stir up contempt for Christians (see MRC Article & video of TV show trailer – Disclaimer: foul language, themes – not for children; Pray & Sign Petition). Pray that thinking Americans will reject the filth that ABC-Disney is spewing upon our nation and using to harm our children. May the MRC petition succeed and this nasty program be cancelled! "What does an X-rated gay sex columnist have in common with Walt Disney? Nothing. And that's exactly the problem. Most Americans have probably never heard of Dan Savage, but unfortunately, that's all about to change this fall. Despite massive outcry -- thousands of phone calls, emails, and petition signers -- Disney's ABC is taking its LGBT activism to new lows with plans to bring the controversial Christian-basher to life in a sitcom called The Real O'Neals. The trailer is already worse than anyone could imagine. When the show isn't mocking Christians, it's celebrating homosexuality. It's a savage, if you will, caricature of a Catholic family and the Faith, where the parents are divorcing, one son has anorexia, the daughter runs a fake charity, and the son pictured in the middle is gay. Oh, and there's a Virgin Mary statue over the toilet. While the Left is counting the days until the comedy airs, Savage's real-life legacy of bioterrorism and death threats is no joking matter." - Hate group leader Tony Perkins, promoting a petition for ABC to cancel the show.

Via IndieWire:
Just yesterday we reported that ABC had picked up Dan Savage's sitcom "The Real O'Neals," and now we already have a trailer... That looks pretty darn promising. Focusing on a contemporary Catholic family with a whole lotta skeletons in their closet, "The Real O'Neals" offers up the first network TV sitcom protagonist that's a gay teenager (Noah Galvin) alongside a family that includes a matriarch played by the can-do-know-wrong Martha Plimpton.

All that foot-stomping by One Million Moms and the rest of Teabagistan was for naught, as ABC has ordered the first season of The Real O'Neals. Via Deadline:
Along with the six drama series pickups, ABC has ordered its first new comedy series for next season: single-camera The Muppets, from The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady & Bob Kushell; and The Real O’Neals, executive produced by Dan Savage; as well as Ken Jeong’s multi-camera Dr. Ken. The Real O’Neals, about a family in the aftermath of a son comes out, had been an internal ABC favorite. Its fate was put into question when religious and conservative organizations started a campaign against the project over the involvement of outspoken gay activist Savage. The comedy was originally going to be based on his life growing up but that changed during the development of the pilot, with the story evolving in a different direction. The Real O’Neals marks the return of Raising Hope‘s Martha Plimpton with another comedy starring role. The Real O’Neals was written by David Windsor and Casey Johnson. Executive producers are David Windsor, Casey Johnson, Brian Pines, Dan McDermott and Dan Savage. “The Real O’Neals” is produced by ABC Studios.Oh yes, there will be more sadz.

Last week students at a Pennsylvania high school protested against the Day Of Silence by writing "Anti-Gay Day" on their hands, by posting bible verses to their social media accounts, and by wearing flannel shirts as a show of anti-gay solidarity. They also reportedly distributed a "lynch list" of students that participated in the Day Of Silence and defaced some of their lockers. Today Dan Savage points out a well-known study which reveals that homophobic people very often have strong erotic response to gay porn. Here is his suggestion to the LGBT students at that school:
Here's my advice for LGBT students and allies at McGuffey High: Print out a few hundred copies of the abstract of the study I quoted from above—a reputable, peer-reviewed study published by the National Institutes of Health—and highlight the same parts I bolded. Then tape copies of the highlighted abstract to the lockers of all the boys who participated in "Anti-Gay Day" and hand out copies to everyone else at your school. Will you be accusing the boys who wore flannel, assaulted queer students, posted antigay Bible verses on your lockers, and passed out that a "lynch list" of being gay themselves? Yes. Does that mean you're throwing "gay" around in an accusatory way? Yes. Does that mean you're accepting, for sake of argument, the homophobe's central premise, i.e., that there's something wrong with being gay? Yes it does. But sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. [snip] By letting the entire student body know that science says being a homophobe is totally gay—gay as in the turned-on-by-homosexual-stimuli sense, not the gay-as-in-that-is-so-lame sense—will make these boys less likely to attack you. Because homophobia is gay.Hit the link to read more and to see the abstract.

Just in via press release:
Dear Joe, If you didn't know who Dan Savage is until today, it's probably a good thing. But right now we need you to familiarize yourselves with one of the cruelest, most vile political activists in America. Why? Because ABC and Disney announced their plans to air a sitcom Dan Savage developed loosely based on his life. A perusal of Dan Savage's work reveals a career built on advocating violence — even murder — and spewing hatred against people of faith. Savage has spared no one with whom he disagrees from his vitriolic hate speech. Despite his extremism, vulgarity, and unabashed encouragement of dangerous sexual practices, Disney-ABC is moving forward with this show, disgustingly titled "Family of the Year." TAKE ACTION: Sign our Petition to Disney-ABC, urging them to immediately cancel plans to air "Family of the Year." Then call Disney-ABC President Ben Sherwood at 877-660-5301. Urge him to cancel their pilot sitcom based on the life of hateful anti-Christian bigot Dan Savage.RELATED: Emmy-winner Martha Plimpton has been cast to play the mother.

"Rand Paul is a different kind of Republican! Rand Paul has all sorts of new ideas! New ideas like, um, opposing same-sex marriage, backing the 'Life Begins at Conception Act' (which would make abortion illegal), and keeping marijuana illegal. Rand Paul also has a big new idea about climate change: it's not happening and Paul opposes efforts to regulate carbon emissions! Rand Paul wants to increase defense spending by $190 billion! He opposes Obama's nukes deal with Iran, and he fully backs the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision that allows unregulated and unlimited contributions to flow into campaigns! Rand Paul also supports the Supreme Court decision that gutted the Voting Rights Act! Paul opposes all gun control measures, has pledged to repeal Obamacare, and wants to use drones to police our border with Mexico and increase the number of deportations. Rand Paul isn't like all of those other Republicans who want to do all of the exact same things Rand Paul wants to do." - Dan Savage, writing for the Stranger.

Dan Savage appeared on MSNBC yesterday to respond to Sen. Tom Cotton, who dismissed anti-gay legislation in the United States as unimportant because gay people are being executed in Iran. Savage: "The hypocrisy of people like Tom Cotton, who wants America to get credit for being better on gay issues but will point to how bad it is elsewhere to justify making it worse here, how do you rationalize that except through some bigot blender brain?"

If you didn’t know who Dan Savage is until today, it’s probably a good thing. But right now we need you to familiarize yourselves with one of the cruelest, most vile political activists in America. Why? Because ABC and Disney announced their plans to air a sitcom Dan Savage developed loosely based on his life. This is a complete disgrace. By filling out the form on the right, we will produce and mail postcards from you to executives and board members at ABC and Disney. The postcards will include your name, city, and state, as well as your personalized message. The back of the postcard will include one or more examples of Savage's unspeakably vile statements. Make your voice heard today!RELATED: The MRC was founded by Brent Bozell, who is perhaps most infamous for calling President Obama a "skinny ghetto crackhead" during a 2011 appearance on Fox News. Bozell also founded the Parents Television Council, which lost a $3.5M defamation lawsuit to the World Wrestling Foundation (now the WWE) for Bozell's claims that children has been killed while copying wrestling moves seen on their shows. Bozell was forced to issue a public apology as part of that settlement. Last year some outlets dropped Bozell's syndicated column after former MRC employees alleged that the column and Bozell's books had been written by a ghostwriter. At the 2012 FRC Values Voter Summit, Bozell told the audience, "If you see any demonstrators, beat them up on the way out." Bozell sits on the board of directors for the Catholic League.

"Dan Savage, who is now having his life story being portrayed on a new sitcom on ABC, you know, here’s a guy that’s responsible for the coarsening of civil discussion and conversation being celebrated, at a time when there are knuckleheads who are still spewing from their lips the sort of nonsense that we’ve heard from these fraternity members."

In a Townhall piece published today, wingnut commentator Ben Shapiro goes after Dan Savage for his recent invitation for Ben Carson to "suck my dick" and prove that homosexuality is a choice.
That is an insipid argument; were the shoe on the other foot, Savage would have to demonstrate that being gay is involuntary by engaging in sexual behavior with every male he meets. Given his prior solicitation of Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, and Herman Cain, that may well be his desire, but it's a rotten argument overall. So far Carson has stuck to his pledge to shut up forever about gay issues. But it's only been a week.
But arguments no longer matter. Logic no longer matters. Feelings matter. We intuitively understand that behavior defines us rather than feeling; no one would label a vegetarian a person who deplores meat-eating but chows down on steak every night. But when it comes to sexual behavior, we look to get ourselves off the hook: All sexual behavior is involuntary, so how can we be expected to make decisions about it? Hence the left's absurd lie during the Clinton era that everyone lies about sex; hence the asinine notion that chastity until marriage is an impossibility; hence the morally blind belief that societal pressure for sexual morality is discriminatory in the same sense that racism is discriminatory.
The result: No honest discussion can be had about the extent of human choice, the limits of human choice, and our own preferences among the choices human beings make. We are mere animals, forced by our firing neurons to act on each and every impulse. We have no choice. And those who say we do ought to perform oral sex on us.

"Dear Dr. Carson, If being gay is a choice, prove it. Choose it. Choose to be gay yourself. Show America how that's done, Ben, show us how a man can choose to be gay. Suck my dick. Name the time and the place and I'll bring my dick and a camera crew and you can suck me off and win the argument." - Dan Savage, in a posting made Wednesday before Carson offered his flaccid apology. Savage's message has given wingnuts the vapors, with Porno Pete today demanding that the SPLC label him a "hateful extremist."

"Dan Savage says 'it gets better,' but don't be surprised if viewers get bitter after ABC's newest program. The Disney-owned network, for years a shill for the LGBT agenda, is taking their activism to amazing lows with its plans to bring the controversial 'sex therapist' to life in a regular feature. His dark and vile attacks on Christians have been well chronicled by Savage himself (so vulgar most are unprintable). Lately, though, the open atheist homosexual has taken a break from harassing high schoolers and Republicans to focus on this new fall sitcom, which, producers say, 'will follow the younger years of Savage's life and the experiences of his family following his decision to come out of the closet.' As desperate as the networks are to out-shock the competition, does ABC really want a pilot show based on an anti-Christian bully like Dan Savage?" - Hate group leader Tony Perkins, via email.

The untitled Savage comedy is a single-camera semi-autobiographical entry based on the LGBT activist/boundary-pushing columnist's life. What seems like the end of their idyllic life turns out to be the beginning of a bright new chapter when everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real. Savage is responsible fororganizing the It Gets Better photo campaign following the passage of Prop. 8 and numerous other anti-gay legislation. Galavant, Trophy Wife and Don't Trust the B alum David Windsor and Casey Johnson will pen the script. The suicide of transgender teen Leelah Alcorn has been a trending topic of Twitter for two days and there have been hundreds of stories about her in the mainstream press.
A transgender Ohio teen walked in front of an oncoming truck and was crushed to death on Sunday morning, leaving behind a suicide note that has resonated around the world and led to calls for a federal law to protect other transgender adolescents. Leelah Alcorn, born with the name Joshua, was 17 years old and said she had been forced to undergo conversion therapy, which seeks to change sexual orientation through counseling. The practice has been banned in two states on grounds it is medically unfounded and puts children in danger.
Since Alcorn's death, groups supporting transgenders have called for a national "Leelah's Law" to end conversion therapy, calling it "psychological torture." Nearly 80,000 people have signed a petition on Change.org supporting the proposal. The American Psychological Association has dismissed the idea that sexual orientation is a mental disorder and said mental health professionals should avoid telling clients they can change their sexual orientation through therapy or other treatments. Supporters of the practice say it is an effective way to counsel troubled youths. Transgender adults took to Twitter after Alcorn’s death, offering encouragement to transgender teens with the hashtag #RealLiveTransAdult. "I didn’t think I’d live to be 30. Don't give up," one person wrote.
