Hillary: I'm Not Running In 2012

Yesterday Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told NBC News that she will not run for president in 2012.
Asked by NBC’s Ann Curry whether, after how fiercely and competitively she had sought the Democratic nomination in 2008, she would run for president again, she responded with that hearty Hillary laugh we’ve all come to know, and said: “It never crosses my mind … “No no no — No. This is a great job. It is a 24/7 job and I’m looking forward to retirement at some point. ” Mrs. Clinton would be 69 in October 2016, not that nearing 70 has stood in the way of other presidential candidates. But if any Clinton die-hards were thinking 2012, well, they’d also have to reconsider what President Obama’s election reflected in terms of a generational, post-Baby Boomer game-changing cycle. Some attribute Mrs. Clinton’s defeat to the rise of a younger age demographic and a wish for a departure from the past. That may always be difficult for avid Clinton followers to swallow — that their time came and went.
