Work on the Second Avenue subway line continues, even in the face of "doomsday" MTA service cuts, which may include ending free rides for the city's public school students. (An excellent way to put an end to those annoyingly rising attendance rates.) The shot above was taken at 91st street, which will be the launching point for the massive tunnel-boring machine which will burrow down Second Avenue to 63rd Street, collapsing the odd century-old tenement every block or so. Service on the line is scheduled to begin in 2017. Meet me on my corner in eight years?
