SPAIN: Thousands Rally Against Marriage
Led by Cardinal Antonio Rouco, tens of thousands of Spaniards attended an open air Mass and rally in Madrid against same-sex marriage and abortion rights yesterday. According to Rouco, Europe is "doomed" to experience a declining population unless Catholic values are maintained. According to a just-published survey, only about 25% of Spaniards now describe themselves as Catholic. Spain legalized same-sex marriage in 2005.
