Swag Tuesday
Courtesy of its producers, this week's Swag Tuesday prize is two tickets to Evolution Of A Dancer, a novel dance party that will explore the history of gay nightclubbing. Evolution Of A Dancer takes place this Sunday, February 20th at Manhattan's Rebel club. Performing that night are legendary DJs Susan Morabito, Michael Fierman, and John Celgia.
While dance culture has branched off into many variants and has become a global phenomenon, our concept is to tell our story, chronologically, through the music that is relevant to the people who danced in the clubs from The Loft and the 10th Floor through 12 West, Flamingo, The Garage, The Sandpiper, The Pavilion, Ice Palace, Cherry Grove, Infinity, Studio 54, The Underground, The Saint, Palladium, into The Sound Factory, Twilo, Roxy, Octagon,Discotheque, Element, Love and of course Roseland. A ride in a time machine and a musical journey like no other club experience has ever been presented. We have witnessed a whirlwind of technological advancement both in music production and DJ tools for the presentation of music in the club, as well as the development of the musical styles that move us today.Evolution Of A Dancer begins at 6pm and continues until 3am. Get advance tickets. Can you last from Ten Percent though Born This Way? I sure want to try. (And Monday is a holiday!) Enter to win tickets by commenting on this post. Only enter once and please remember to leave your email address in the text of your comment. Entries close at midnight on Thursday, west coast time. If you cannot be in Manhattan on the day of the party, your winning entry is transferable to your favorite disco historian.
