NOM Threatens Starbucks

"Americans should be able to drink a peaceful cup of coffee without worrying that a portion of the company's profits is going to be used to push gay marriage without a vote from the people. This is a gratuitous leap into a hot button culture war issue; respect for diversity touted by Starbucks ought to include respecting the diverse views of all its customers and employees." - NOM president Brian Brown, pledging an "intensive campaign" to send complaints to Starbucks headquarters.

As always, NOM's hypocrisy is staggering, if unsurprising. Here's just one example: In 2008 NOM urged its supporters to patronize El Pollo Loco because the owner of several franchises had done the "morally correct" thing by donating to support Proposition 8.

Supporting civil equality = Gratuitous leap into the culture war. Thwarting civil equality = Exercising God-given freedom of speech. Everybody got that?
