There's a lot of news about gay rocker Bob Mould to report. First off, on September 4th his new album
Silver Age will be released. Reviewers are
calling it "punishingly loud, melodically sparkling pop/rock" much like his critically-raved 90s band Sugar. And speaking of Sugar,
their catalog has just been remastered, reissued, and is now available on Spotify,
finally lending some completeness to my Best Of Bob Mould playlist. This fall Mould
will be touring the U.S. to support
Silver Age and the Sugar reissues, starting with a free concert in Brooklyn's waterfront
Williamsburg Park on September 7th when he'll play Sugar's legendary
Copper Blue in its entirety. (I love the fairly recent trend of artists playing albums in full.) Below is a recent clip of Mould playing
Copper Blue's hit single
Hoover Dam. Has it
really been 20 years since that came out?
