VIRGINIA: Male Liberty University Student Killed By Campus Cops At Female Dorm

Virginia's WDBJ reports:
A Liberty University student is dead after an altercation with a Liberty University Emergency Services Officer on Tuesday morning at an off-campus residence hall. According to the school, a Liberty University Emergency Services Officer was attacked by a male student in the lobby of Residential Annex II. The student was shot and killed. The officer was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment. Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. issued the following statement: “The Liberty University community is deeply saddened by this tragic event and is prayerfully supporting all those impacted." Some of the students we talked with complained about a lack of communication from the university about what was happening. They didn't receive any official notification about the incident.
More from Christianity Today:
A Liberty University student was shot and killed during an early morning altercation with a campus officer at an off-campus dormitory for women, according to local police. Police have yet to release the male student's name. Like many Christian colleges without coed dorms, Liberty policies state that "males are not allowed in female residence halls," including the Annex II where the shooting took place at approximately 4:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. Religion News Service points out that Liberty recently approved the carrying of concealed weapons on campus. "It appeared from the discussion that the board felt that allowing guns would increase safety on campus," school attorney David Corry told The Liberty Champion in April.
