New From House Candidate Sean Eldridge

A former Freedom To Marry staffer, Eldridge is the husband of Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes. He faces two-term Rep. Chris Gibson (R-NY), whose first act after being elected was to vote for the repeal of Obamacare. Eldridge is challenging the result of a recent poll which shows him trailing badly.
“I think people are frustrated with this Congress,” Eldridge said. “I don’t think people are happy. What I think voters don’t want is to sue the president and waster taxpayer dollars on that ... We have to do better than the least productive Congress in the country.” He also questioned opinion polling, commissioned by the United Transportation Union, that showed Gibson ahead by 27 points (56 to 29), as of Thursday. On Thursday, Gibson tweeted that a, “New independent poll has me up big over Sean Eldridge. We’ll keep working hard to win a decisive victory in November.” The United Transportation Union had donated $7,500 to the Gibson campaign for the current election cycle, and another $7,500 two years ago. “... If you have a poll being done by an organization that’s donated to a candidate, I think that makes it less independent,” Eldridge said.
