By Request: Cast Of Glee To Appear At White House Easter Egg Roll

At the request of the First Lady, the cast of Glee will appear at this year's White House Easter Egg Roll.
Michael Ausiello at Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the performance resulted from a request by First Lady Michelle Obama. “Sources confirm to me exclusively that First Lady Michelle Obama has invited the cast of Glee to perform at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, April 5 — and, barring any last-minute glitches, they’re gonna do it!” reported Ausiello. According to information released by the White House, the theme of this year’s egg roll is “Ready, Set, Go!” with the goal of promoting health and wellness. The egg rolling and other activities will revolve around the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” initiative to combat childhood obesity. The event on the White House South Lawn is open to children ages 12 and younger and their families.
The Easter Egg Roll has been the subject of controversy in recent years due to complaints by Christian groups that LGBT families had been allowed to participate. An online ticket lottery for this year's event runs through Feb. 28th on the official White House site.
