Fifty Shades Hits $410M Worldwide Gross

Due to flaccid competition Fifty Shades Of Grey stayed at #1 this weekend despite a 73% drop in domestic admissions. The real story, however, remains overseas where the film continues to break box office records, pushing its worldwide gross to $410M. American Sniper finished sixth in its eighth week of domestic release, with a global gross now standing at $406M. As I noted last week, conservative sites are hotly following the performance of both films, as one is just another example of perverted leftism (or something) and the other a shining tale of true red, white, and blue patriotism. Should American Sniper take any Oscars tonight, you can expect lots of Twitter taunting. Should it not win, well, that's just because Hollywood is full of communists.

Fifty Shades Of Grey Grosses $266M

Fifty Shades Of Grey is proving to be a monster hit, particularly overseas where it grossed $172M in its opening weekend. Conservative sites are closely tracking the film's performance, both because of its perverted subject matter and because real Americans spent the weekend seeing American Sniper for the third time. Or something. American Sniper, unsurprisingly, is not so popular overseas and in six weeks the film has grossed $393M worldwide, the vast majority of which is domestic admissions.
