NICARAGUA: Laws Banning Gay Adoption And Same-Sex Marriage Go Into Effect

Via Agence France-Presse:
A new legal definition of what constitutes a family took effect in Nicaragua on Wednesday, drawing ire from gay groups who say it massively impacts their rights. The so-called Family Code, which was first agreed in June 2014, establishes marriage as only being "between a man and a woman." Aside from barring gay marriage, the definition precludes gays from adopting and diminishes other rights. "We feel we have been excluded from these laws," said Marvin Mayorga, leader of the Movement for Sexual Diversity. The rule explicitly states that only man-woman couples, foreign or Nicaraguan, can adopt. Additionally, Mayorga said gay couples would not be allowed to use fertility treatments to get pregnant. Nor would they be entitled to social security protection or inheritance in the case of loss of a spouse.
LGBT groups plan to challenge the laws in court.

Nicaraguan Pastors: We Will Die Or Go To Prison Before Giving Up Kidnapped Child

The Nicaraguan pastors shielding Isabella Miller from her lesbian mom say they will gladly go to prison or be put to death before surrendering the child to authorities. Last month a jury convicted one of their American conspirators on the same day that the girl's mother filed a RICO lawsuit against numerous U.S.-based Christian groups.
The Brotherhood says that they forgive their persecutors, but will stand firm in the defense of Isabella, now 10 years old, who “has become an innocent victim of an ungodly agenda.” “Her wellbeing has not been given much or any consideration. According to the Bible we believe that God has given Lisa sole responsibility to care and protect her own daughter since she has no known father. According to the Bible it is a war between good and evil, a battle between God and Satan. As congregations we stand united in this spiritual warfare against evil.”

The Brotherhood add that they are willing to suffer imprisonment or death in the cause of protecting Isabella. “The fact is that suddenly we find ourselves having to choose between obeying God and man made laws,” they write. “We have chosen to obey God. We are willing to give up our rights, go to jail, or even die, for the cause of helping anyone become free from a sinful life and helping that person to live in obedience to God’s Word.”
The Liberty Counsel, who was named in Janet Jenkins' lawsuit, say they plan to sue her for defamation.

Wingnuts Launch Legal Defense Fund For Man Arrested In Lisa Miller Case

Right Wing Watch reports that a legal defense fund has already raised $30,000 for Timo Miller, the man arrested by the FBI last month for helping "ex-gay" Lisa Miller illegally take her daughter out of the country rather than comply with court-ordered custody sharing with her former partner. From the defense fund website:
Since God has not intended for two men or two women to raise children as a family unit, they can’t produce children on their own. This creates a problem in their agenda to create the perception that homosexual behavior is normal. Thus they resort to adopting children or using artificial insemination from a male donor in the case of a lesbian relationship. Can you imagine being a child growing up in the middle of such an environment?

It is a tragedy that laws and courts in our nation can be manipulated to allow an innocent and defenseless child to become a pawn of the agenda of those who desire to “normalize” homosexuality. Truly sin has devastating consequences. A mother goose will fight to the death to protect her young. So will a robin or a mama bear. God has put instincts into a mother to protect their young. Lisa did what any good mother would do. She “died” while attempting to protect her young child from what she perceived as very imminent danger. Rather than risk what she felt was certain harm to her daughter, she took her child, and fled to Nicaragua.
Last month we also learned that Miller and her daughter are living in a house owned by the father of Liberty Counsel head Mat Staver's secretary. Which is totally a coincidence, right?

Homosex To Be Legal In Nicaragua

Surprising international observers, the Nicaraguan National Assembly has announced the decriminalization of gay sex, effective next March. Under the current law, gay sex is punishable by one to three years imprisonment, as is providing sexual health information or services and advocating for LGBT rights. The new civil code does away with all of those restrictions. Most Central and South American nations have decriminalized gay sex in recent years.
