Reasons To Hate PETA, Part 88
PETA is suing Sea World for violating the Thirteenth Amendment, which bans slavery. And Shamu? That's his SLAVE name.
The chances of the suit succeeding are slim, according to legal experts not involved in the case; any judge who hews to the original intent of the authors of the amendment is unlikely to find that they wanted to protect animals. But PETA relishes engaging in the court of public opinion, as evidenced by its provocative anti-fur and pro-vegan campaigns. The suit, which PETA says it will file Wednesday in U.S. District Court in San Diego, hinges on the fact that the 13th Amendment, while prohibiting slavery and involuntary servitude, does not specify that only humans can be victims. Jeff Kerr, PETA's general counsel, says his five-member legal team — which spent 18 months preparing the case — believes it's the first federal court suit seeking constitutional rights for members of an animal species.Black folks are already going ballistic on Twitter.

AFA's Bryan Fischer: The Bible Calls For Sea World Staff To Be Put To Death
"What about the term 'killer whale' do SeaWorld officials not understand? If the counsel of the Judeo-Christian tradition had been followed, Tillikum would have been put out of everyone's misery back in 1991 and would not have had the opportunity to claim two more human lives. Says the ancient civil code of Israel, 'When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner shall not be liable.' (Exodus 21:28)"So, your animal kills somebody, your moral responsibility is to put that animal to death. You have no moral culpability in the death, because you didn't know the animal was going to go postal on somebody. But, the Scripture soberly warns, if one of your animals kills a second time because you didn't kill it after it claimed its first human victim, this time you die right along with your animal. To use the example from Exodus, if your ox kills a second time, 'the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death.' (Exodus 21:29)" - American Family Association radio host Bryan Fischer in a column titled Bible Ignored, Trainer Dies, saying that the people running Sea World need to be put to death. It's RIGHT THERE in the Babble, people!

He's RIGHT Behind You, Dude!
Sea World says they'll resume the killer whale shows this weekend, but trainers won't be getting in the water for now. Tilikum, the literal killer whale, will remain "an active contributing member of the team." What he contributes is orca sperm, as he is the main stud for all the Sea World parks.Labels: Florida, Orlando, Sea World, tourism

Killer Whale Lives Up To Name
Well, this is bound to hurt attendance. A killer whale at Orlando's Sea World grabbed a trainer off the platform and killed her.A SeaWorld employee died this afternoon during an incident at SeaWorld's Shamu Stadium, an Orange County Sheriff's Office official confirmed. SeaWorld, rescue personnel and the Sheriff's Office are not revealing the identity of the victim, although a local TV station is reporting that it was a female employee who was killed after she was grabbed by one of the theme park's whales at the start of a public show. Park guest Victoria Biniak told Local 6 that the trainer was a veteran of SeaWorld and had just finished explaining to the audience what they would see during the performance. At that point, Biniak said, the whale came up from the water and grabbed the woman. "He was thrashing her around pretty good. It was violent,'" Biniak told Local 6. The whale "took off really fast in the tank, and then he came back, shot up in the air, grabbed the trainer by the waist and started thrashing around, and one of her shoes flew off."This was the first such incident in the history of the Sea World parks. There will be a lot of sleepless kids in Orlando's hotels tonight.
