A Congress Of Firsts
Think Progress has posted a fantastic infographic recap of the freshman members of the next Congress: "The 113th Congress will be more representative of the United States from race to religion, and from gender to sexual orientation. It will look more like America with 3 new African American representatives, 10 new Latinos, 5 new Asian Americans and 24 women in the House or Senate." Included in the list is our first openly lesbian member of the Senate and four new LGBT members of the House. We'll also see our first two Hindu members of the House and our first Buddhist Senator.
