Good Work Wednesday

This Sunday join Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for a few rounds of Broadway Bingo at Spotlight Live in Times Square, where Charles Busch, Jackie Hoffman, and Karen Finley will be among the celebrity callers. There will be special musical performances by Joyce DeWitt (!), the cast of Naked Boys Singing, and Amber Martin. Prizes include paraphernalia from and tickets to hit Broadway shows such as Xanadu, Avenue Q, and Cry-Baby. Doors open 7:30pm. Advance tickets $10, $15 at the door. Get tickets here. The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center is looking for a few good women! The Center is currently seeking nominations for its annual Lesbians and bisexual women Active in Community Empowerment (L.A.C.E.) Awards, given each year to local lesbians and bisexual women who’ve made significant contributions to the LGBT community through their professional or volunteer work, or both. NYC: "Shelter," an exhibition following LGBTQ youth living in a homeless shelter, is on display at Exit Art in New York City. Photographer Lucky Michaels chronicles the lives of the inhabitants of the shelter, Sylvia's Place, which is named after gay rights activist Sylvia Rivera. Michaels serves as the subjects' counselor, documenting them in moments of rest, play, and confrontation. Exit Art is located at 475 10th Ave. at the corner of West 36th Street. Atlanta: Delta & “For the Kid in All of Us” proudly present the Toy Party, the 5th annual holiday cocktail party and toy drive. “For the Kid in All of Us” is a 100% volunteer, charitable organization that relies on corporate and individual contributions to achieve our mission of bridging communities to brighten the lives of Georgia’s children in need. Since the inaugural year in 2003, we have collected more than 12,000 toys and gift cards and donated $273,000 to agencies and organizations that serve the state’s underprivileged children. This year’s Toy Party will be held Sunday, December 2nd from 530-9pm at the Atlanta Apparel Mart – Americasmart 3. Admission is a new, unwrapped toy or gift card of $15 or greater value. One American flag will be placed on the Mall for each discharged service member, which will serve as the backdrop for a series of events honoring their service, their sacrifice, and their fight to serve with dignity.

LAS VEGAS: Thursday's Democratic presidential debate will be shown live from UNLV at the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada at 5PM. "Bring you friends, your family, your questions and get educated on where the candidates stand on the issues important to you."

DC: The Human Rights Campaign will host a photo exhibit called “Pride / Prejudice: Voices of GLBT Youth,” on Wednesday, November 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The November 7th event will include a reception with photographer Rachelle Lee Smith.
