Lily Allen - Sheezus

TIME has a review:
Lily Allen’s upcoming album, Sheezus, might poke fun at Kanye West, but on the recently premiered title track, she turns her attention to another crop of royals: Lorde, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga don’t just get name-checked on “Sheezus” — Allen’s search-engine-optimized opinions of her pop-star peers make up the song’s entire hook. At first, the “Hard Out Here” singer doesn’t exactly sound like she’s full of praise (except for Lorde, who’s “about to slay you”), but listen closely — this is no diss track. If anything, Allen wants her ladies to unite in bringing their A-game: “Second best will never cut it for the divas / Give me that crown, bitch / I wanna be Sheezus.”

Lily Allen - Air Balloon

LGBT ally Lily Allen is back with a new video from her coming third studio album to be released next month. The new track doesn't have the social commentary we usually see from Allen, as in her 2013 dig on female beauty standards in Hard Out Here.  If you're unfamiliar with Lily Allen, you might start with Fuck You, her 2009 take on homophobia, which was wonderfully lip-synced by LGBT kids in two viral videos.

Lily Allen - Hard Out Here

Stereogum has a review:
She’s already covered Keane for a British department-store commercial, and now she’s got her first real single since 2009. It’s called “Hard Out Here,” and it’s an Auto-Tuned pop song that also works as an on-the-nose parody of Auto-Tuned pop songs, or at least the wing of pop culture that produces them. The glossy video, from director Christopher Sweeney, looks at the usual champagne-on-tits music video cliches through the lens of body-image issues and institutional sexism.
This is awesome. 1.2M views in 24 hours.

Best Video Of 2009: Big Fat Gay Collab

Lots of sites are posting their "Best of YouTube" recaps this week. We loved the parodies of NOM's Gathering Storm ad, we giggled at all the Single Ladies tributes, and we got all teary-eyed over the many inspiring clips of impromptu marriage rallies/protests. But for me, one clip stands out above all the rest. Still makes me laugh, still chokes me up. Best Clip Of 2009: The Big Fat Gay Collab's lip-sync of Lily Allen's Fuck You. The kids are alright.

The Big French Gay Anti-Hate Collaboration

Remember the Big Fat Gay Anti-Hate Collaboration? Here's a bunch of French kids doing their version. Almost as cute as the first one, I especially cracked up at the 2:00 mark.

The Big Fat Gay Anti-Hate Collaboration

Two dozen YouTubers collaborated to create this take on Lily Allen's Fuck You. Love it, love it, love it. Big props to Bil Browning at the Bilerico Project for the tip. I'm putting this on repeat for the rest of the day.
