Today In SF: Hunky Jesus Contest

San Franciscans, don't forget today's legendary party in Dolores Park, where the Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence will present their annual Hunky Jesus contest. Festivities begin at noon, the contest commences at 3PM. Tomorrow we get to enjoy the outraaaaged reactions from Bill Donohue! Here's a clip from Hunky Jesus 2011.

On the eve of Easter, a religious group is coming down hard on the Fells Point bar Ale Mary's. Why? Well, its name for starters. And all of the other things the church-themed bar does for kitsch value. They decorate with photos of nuns. They post their draft list on a hymn board. They offer Father Luies Grilled Wings and Father Tom's Fried Ice Cream Sundae. And, possibly their most serious transgression according to the group: the bar's "chalice" club where people can get their beer served in a chalice. The group 500,000 Against Ale Mary's* isn't amused. In fact, they're highly offended.

Dark Alley Media is releasing a porn version (NSFW) of the Jesus story. We can't get a plot synopsis from the site for the movie, which mistakenly tells the plot of a previous Dark Alley movie, Gaytanemo, in which "an unsuspecting German tourist is mistaken for a terrorist, abducted, and taken to the sexiest secret military detention center ever."

However, Queerty has posted an interview with Passio director Matthias von Fistenberg (no, really) who says, “My Jesus is gay, stunningly beautiful and sexy. He gets aroused like all of us. The movie is a gospel, passio, version of the Jesus story according to me.”

Dan Savage posted about Passio yesterday and here are a few Scriptural comments from his readers :

Sacrilege makes me happier than just about anything in the world. I guess that makes me a bad person.
